Reading Curtis Davies comments about not scoring goals and putting chances away, with Aluko's return along with the signings of Jelavic and Long feel we'll be okay goal scoring wise.

That said apart from Arsenal we have the best home defensive record in the league, no mean feat for a newly promoted side, so lets focus on what appears to be a strength and get some more 1-0 wins at home starting with Spurs on Saturday!

If we didn't have a strong defensive record we would be well and truly in the brown stuff; its certainly worth an extra point by comparison to another 3-4 teams around us.

Both Long and Jelavic couldn't score when they had decent service (especially Jelavic). Don't see why they should start scoring now.

Neither Long or Jelavic have had sustained PL footbal this season. The former has just come back from injury too. Give them time.

Target will be 5 each for the season from now. Add in 2-3 for Aluko and 3-4 for the midfield combined and we might just nab 17th. We don't score much from set pieces, when was the last time anyone scored with a firm header from a corner?

Davies v Cardiff was the closest to a firm header from a corner, and that was a rebounded cross. Before that will probably have been McShane v Cardiff, and even that wasn't a header <laugh>

That would be Ian Ashbee at Barnsley about 5 or 6 years ago! :)
