Newcastle's Sylvain Marveaux has been offered to FC Nantes we understand. #FCN #NUFC

We're obviously trying to scrape that £2million together to raise the Grenier offer... Can't be spending more than half of the Cabaye fee.

Disappointing as I'd hoped he would be able to make something of himself - usually looked decent and wasn't he one of our leading assists men last season despite relatively few games?

Hmm, guess he's not going to play much of a part vs Sunderland, then!

Can't we offer him AND Obertan for £1m?

Very disappointing that he hasn't fulfilled his potential with us if true. I keep reading that Pardew feels he doesn't apply himself in training though. Not sure if that's true but if it is then it comes back to no player being bigger than the team - and def not Marveaux!

aye he has shown some glimpses but not enough but we do need a squad.

Surely Shola, Orbertan Raylor (although knacked) Gosling should be booted before him

if he does go, yet another one to be replaced in the squad.
number of players needed is starting to go up, Joe will have a busy summer, if he gets his a*** out of bed or wherever he's been holed up.

his wages might stop Marv going anywhere, as cant see the French willing to pay what he's on hear especially after tax.

Gosling just running contract down and will go in summer - Unsellable when some club will get him for nothing in a few months.<ok>
We will be stuck with Obertan forever. <grr>
Shola is due to leave in the summer unless a new contract is offered to him.
    Why Raylor?

Just think we should have paid him off and got insurance. canny utility player but not great but 2 seasons out never gone to reach that level. We are wasting money as it stands.

The likes of Marv, Abeid, Amalfitano, Vuckic, Obertan and various others all have about 2-3 years left on their contracts. If they're not going to make it and break into the first team squad on a regular basis, then now is the time to cash in and replace with better.

No point having loads of players then loaning around 8-10 out at any one time. Loans should be for giving younger lads experience, not to satisfy players who simply aren't good enough to be in your squad in the first place - why have them?

We could offload about 5 or 6 'nearly men' and replace with 2 or 3 who would actually challenge the first team. It wouldn't weaken the overall squad, as we have loads out on loan. So we already have enough bodies on the books. They just aren't all good enough bodies.

I was hoping the likes of Marv would come good, but doesn't look like it will happen.

He looked decent whenever I watched him last season. Sharp, creative, good turn of pace.

If we are not going to be signing anyone to replace Cabaye in this window then it would be mad to ship Marv out. He'd be decent backup for the number 10 role.

Harsh on Raylor but I can't see him putting on a Newcastle shirt ever again. Correct on the other three bottom feeders.
