Morning Wolves, McDermott has given us stabilty. A couple of bad results, but nothing like as bad as recent times
Well I also said that GFH was no good for the club and that I didn’t want them. And that was before they bought the club. I even called them Bates vol. 2. I almost got my head chewed off for that. But I can’t believe for a second that Cellino would pass the fit and proper test. If he does, then the fit and proper test is a joke And him demanding Festa to be on the bench under the Ipswich game tells a lot about this man. So I understand why BM was really pissed off after the game about what was going on behind the scenes.
Morning all Hasn't Cellino already failed the fit and proper test once? I'm sure I read that somewhere amid all of the other crap that's flying around at the minute. Can't remember who he was trying to buy, or where I read it, but I'll have a dig around. One day, one day, all of this will be resolved and we'll actually have a time when (gasp) there isn't a potential takeover undermining everyones positions at the club.
It's a very sad state of affairs, when from the so called viable options, he is the best choice. I find myself in a bit of a dilemma here, yes I want Leeds back in the Premiership, but at what price am I prepared to accept that. Up until the past 2 months, I was happy enough with GFH and their running of the club. Yes we know they had little to no money to invest further into the club and playing staff, but if after the debacle of Bates running the club into the ground, GFH had got us into a position whereby they ensured our running costs were covered without having to sell any of our better players, whilst also teasing us with possibilities of promotion, then I'd have accepted this for a couple of years more, even though of course they had bigged themselves up during their own takeover, and of course got us fans excited about their plans. However the last few months seems to say that GFH and also Haigh are not the guys to take us forward, no matter how many years they are here for. So that leaves us with the Italian. Some on here are wary of him, others are more than happy to welcome him, seeing as he is prepared to spend money, going on his track record in Italy. So we have a guy that has twice been convicted of fraud http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ollowing-failed-West-Ham-United-takeover.html Then further suspected of more fraud http://www.presseurop.eu/en/today/2013-02-15 For some reason he has a major hard on for wanting to buy an English club, having previously been associated with West Ham, Q P R and Crystal Palace, so its obviously not Leed United the club and tradition he is interested in, he just wants a club. The question I ask is why and I guess given our history over recent years, I an't think of any footballing ones. I cannot actually think of any dodgy ones either, and yet in the back of my mind something is screaming at me saying this is dodgy. Then I ask myself if he has been so determined to get involved in English football, why was he not successful with his previous bids for the clubs above. Does it have anything to do with the fact that as a convicted fraudster he fails the Premier League's "Fit and Proper" test. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/6923831.stm So what has changed that makes him think he would pass the "fit and proper" test this time around ? Or is all this takeover talk some elaborate plan by GFH to remain in control of the club, and yet have an excuse for why we didn't acquire any additional players during the transfer window. Have I become so cynical about how our club is run, that I consider that this could be true ? As both Bucks and Ristac have said, given the way the club has been run over the past 10 years, Cellino is probably the best pick out of a very bad bunch, and that shows how sad its got within our football club, when despite all my uneasiness at letting this guy near our club, he's also seems the best at being able to progress us forward, and the term " What price success" keeps swirling around in my head, providing of course, he has some master plan for convincing the FA to allow him to buy us in the first place
McDermott is appealing to fan power. I don't blame him. In the early days Warnock was great at it.... DEFIANT Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has vowed not to walk away from Elland Road in the face of the off-field crisis threatening to engulf the club. The 52-year-old reiterated his grave concerns about the chaotic situation at United after Tuesday night’s draw with Ipswich Town, with club owners Gulf Finance House (GFH) now believed to be locked in discussions with controversial Cagliari owner and president Massimo Cellino regarding a potential takeover. Cellino, who spent time in England last week with a number of associates speaking to club officials about purchasing Leeds, appears to be in the box seat to take over the club with Sport Capital’s bid looking increasingly doomed. Representatives of Cellino were present at United’s Thorp Arch training ground at the start of this week, including his close ally, former Middlesbrough and Portsmouth defender Gianluca Festa. The 44-year-old – who served as a player under Cellino – is understood to have observed training on Monday ahead of the midweek game with Ipswich and asked to sit on the bench for the first-team fixture following a request from Cellino. This was denied and while McDermott refused to divulge details regarding what amounted to outside interference prior to the Ipswich clash, his sense of unease at developments behind the scenes was also emphatically clear. McDermott, just nine months into a three-year deal he signed after being appointed manager last April, said: “I’m a strong person, I’m resilient.
Wouldn't id be terrible if the Italian upset our hugely successful season and all the great work GFH have done turning us from what we were under bates to what we are today
There's a hero If you look inside your heart You don't have to be afraid Of what you are There's an answer If you reach into your soul And the sorrow that you know Will melt away [Chorus:] And then elland comes along With the strength to carry on And you cast your fears aside And you know you can survive So when you feel like hope is gone Look inside you and be strong And you'll finally see the truth That a hero lies in you too It's a long road When you face the world alone No one reaches out a hand For you to hold You can find love If you search within yourself And the emptiness you felt Will disappear [Chorus] Lord knows Dreams are hard to follow But don't let anyone Tear them away Hold on There will be tomorrow In time You'll find the way
Under Brian we have our worst home defeat in 55 years and no win in 8 games. Has it been worse in recent times?
Apparently Cellino would get round the issue of the fit and proper person test by installing his son as head of any takeover, so problem solved. Cellino in...the place needs a proper shake up, a few feathers ruffled, money invested on players. Let's face it, he wouldn't want to buy Leeds just to linger for years in the Championship. Nice man though he is, I have a limited amount of sympathy for McDermott, he's not done himself any favours with his team selections/tactics, and when he gets sacked he'll have his contract paid up and probably walk straight into another job with a million or so pounds in his pocket. No room for sentiment in football, it's big business, **** happens.
