I have heard from a couple of different swans fans today, that South Wales Police have been given the heads up about our ficture list so they can sort out policing etc. Both sources (time will tell how reliable they are) stated our first game is away (the club was not known) and our first home game was next..... mid week against....... LIVERPOOL!!! This is the first time I have blurted out a rumour and maybe the last come Friday!!!! Anyone else heard the same/different?
Rumours are what rumours invariably are - total bollocks! and if by any chance your first game is away followed by Liverpool at home it will be no more than coincidence. Had your first game had a team name attached to it I would be less sceptical. I can see no logical reason for the police to be be advised 2 days earlier than anyone else, they will still have 6 weeks to plan and even then they probably only need 2 weeks (going by the timescale of FA Cup replays)
Further to my earlier post, I have seen an article this morning explaining the fixture scheduling process. By all accounts some police do have an involvement in the process, should they have any concerns of any nature (other big events that will clash in their town/city etc) but it does not go on to say if ALL local police authorities get involved or not, it states Involves a meeting with various police chiefs and the British Transport Police. Again, there are potential issues here that had never crossed my mind. They look at potential logistical problems such as whether there will be too many fans from different clubs all heading to one train station in London for a particular set of fixtures on any given weekend. This rumour has been doing the rounds all week!! Funny thing is the story changes all the time. Last week it was someone from inside the Ospreys who leaked it out Until we get the fixtures in writing I dont want to comment
I heard a rumour, from myself, that our first game is Stockport away. It's only a rumour at this point though...

i've heard just about exactly the same. but as i understood it, it was liverpool at home for the first game. i went into ladbrookes in burry port earlier today to try to put a few quid on it but they weren't taking bets on it. i'll have to ask my brother about it. he's a seargent in cardiff so he might have an idea. he's a liverpool fan though so if it were true i think he might have called me about it. i'll let you know.
Rumour to fact the first two games are one at home and one away in which order though could start another rumour which will only be made a fact on Friday.
I guess we'll see on Friday but I doubt it to be honest, And if it is Liverpool first, that's the last thing we need.
Think we'd be better off playing Liverpool early on, they will still be evolving come the start of the season with several new additions whereas I think we will still have the nucleus of the side that ended our season so well.
The thing is playing Liverpool early will increase our chances of winning, Liverpool always have a bad start to the season lol
I doubt the second game of the season would be a mid-week game, that's usually when the Carling Cup 1st round is anyway.
All I know is that the first home and away games will not be against Cardiff. No rumour, fact. As for this Liverpool rumour, I'd rather get them (and the other big games) out of the way before the latter stages of the season.
