If it's true that Cabaye could have bought out his contract for £6m in the summer, considering you're already safe (obviously not mathematically) what's the problem with this transfer?

He's made it very clear what the ambitions are for your club, top 10 comfortably. Even I've read that about 20 times this year, you're well on course to meet season objectives. You have more pressing issues to deal with in the summer, such as Remy going back to his parent club and you having to find a new goal scorer. By getting rid of Cabaye now, when you no longer need him, it stops that from being an issue in the summer and surely you can focus on starting to plan for next season from now?

Every part of this transfer makes sense, considering the player wanted bigger things and wasn't prepared to wait years to see how Newcastle developed. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you get all if not most of your transfer business for the summer out of the way before pre-season is under way. I wouldn't have much confidence in Joe Kinnear mind but that's another story.

Cabs on a 3.5 year deal worth £88k per week (worked back from the reported 5.5m euro per year).... take off the 75% tax in France and he will net £22k.
Assuming he was on £50k per week here he is effectively going for slightly less money... odd if correct.

They'll find ways and means, via sponsorships, bonuses, undisclosed payments, brown paper bags, etc.

Kinnear has spoken about the Cabaye transfer.

" Whilst he's not my greatest signing for Newcastle ( it's a toss up between Shearer and Marcellino ) we all know Cababaye is a great player, I remember when I bought him and in his first game he scored a fantastic hattrick of 35 yard fre kicks at Maine Road against Everton, I knew then that Sir Bobby could work with the lad. However the £40m offered by SPG for a player in his mid-thirties is a lot of money and will certainly allow Chris Hughton to get some more players in before the end of the February transfer window.

With Yohan being Swiss I can fully understand he wanted to return back to Italy to play in the UEFA Cup and try and force his way into the Uraquay side to play alongside Messi in the Asian championship. "

Is this 75% tax thing not due to get sorted in the summer though?

Well, when you put it like that, it all makes perfect sense. Everyone's a winner.

Is this right? Someone on Talksh.te radio reckoned we were bidding to get Charlie Adams in as Cabaye replacement. FFS he's nothing more than a reserve team player this year and certainly not worth the £6m fee quoted. Hope this is just rubbish.

I heard that this morning as well and it almost made my heart stop. I think he was mistaken, a **** on the windup or just a mental case. All of these preferable to that gapped tooth fat Scottish **** coming here.

Just thought id share something that i found pretty good on the DM comment section... Makes the situation a bit lighter...

(To the tune of American pie).

    Bye Bye, Mr Yohan Cabaye,
Just like Carroll and soon Remy you'll be saying goodbye,
While fatman and robin eat their pasty and pies,
Singing, will this be the day that we buy?

Made me give a little laugh!

It's 75% on anything over 1m so it'll be slightly more than that. PSG will find a way, just like Man City found a way to sponsor themselves to get around FFP.
