http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/15062011/58/bundesliga-marin-rejected-liverpool-tottenham.html Germany midfielder Marko Marin has denied reports that he is set to leave the club after reports linking him to Liverpool and Tottenham, with his agent claiming he refused to enter discussions with the Premier League duo. Marin, 22, has been a rare bright spot in a poor season for Werder Bremen, carrying his form through to the national team, for whom he has become a regular. This led to rumours linking him to the Premier League, but Marin insists he will stay in Germany for now. "I want to stay at Werder," the set-piece specialist told Bild. "I am feel good at Bremen, I have never had the urge to leave. "I want to be successful here, and that is my only aim. If the club receives an offer and decides to sell me, that is another situation. Until then I am happy here." His agent, Fali Ramadani, went a step further, claiming there was interest from Liverpool and Spurs but that Marin would not even talk to them. "Marko rejected both teams," Ramadani said. "Werder hinted that they would not sell Marko at this time."
I don't think we would get him even if we had finished top 4 mate. He genuinely does seem to love Bremen and is showing some loyalty to them.
Refreshing so that is As CH says though - has that cost us? We were right in the mix in January setting Europe alight but that didn't help a great deal!
hate to say it but don't think he would be a signing we would 'actively' pursue unless Modders was on his way, very similar styles and would both fit into the team? so not getting him could be a blessing in disguise...
no maybe it hasnt cost us......but..us and liverpool are not in the CL.....i dont think he loves bremen...his head would turn if it was one of the top 4..just my take on it...i just cant belive loyalty exhists in football
I know what you mean - he's been with them two seasons - hardly set in stone is it! You've given me an idea for a thread
I still think that he'd be available, if we came up with the right offer for Bremen. With the rumours that Pienaar is struggling to settle, maybe we could kill two birds with one stone? Pienaar and £10m, maybe? I think that he'd be a wonderful signing in the long term and I think that we could probably get away with using him sparingly in the league at first, as he adjusted to England and the Prem. Great cover for van der Vaart and Bale and a real prospect.
I would take Marin as a substitute for Modric, since they do have very similar styles, however if we do keep Modric, we don't need Marin. That being said, he looks to be a great player.
Modric is a CM. Marin is LM/Forward by all available descriptions...he played against us twice...on the left! Who on earth made this comparison?!
this is what i thought notsosmart.....i can remebr him looking handy on the wing and i kept on thinkign if we did go in for him it was because we intended on selling Bale
