Yeah, he's always said he wants to bring in youth players where possible, but if we get an injury to Fonte, Lallana or Rodriguez for example, on top the injuries we have picked up since he said that, we might end up having to play three or four youth players and that is no way to win games at this level.

We should get a loan cover, after all, we have to go back to Sunderland again. <yikes>

It will be interesting to see how many media outlets even bother with the "Luke Shaw not for sale" story.

My guess is none, and that they will continue to link him away from the club with absolutely no evidence at all.

#saintsfc Mauricio Pochettino dismisses questions on Osvaldo with media today - no comment, he's suspended, and he's got a contract at club

Not surprised things have changed...ignoring Dani, we have lost Dejan and Gaston for a big chunk of the season. We may have cover now, but other players could get injured in the mean time. We must have more back up.

Aside from this, the big issue is that David wasn't providing the voice overs for Sky. Perhaps the rumour that he headbutted Sammy the Saint aren't too far off the mark. Sammy was apparently rude about his cardigan/scarf combo.

It obvious to me that Shaw is an extremely talented player. He's far from end product and has yet to fulfil his potential. But it has to be taken into account that potential buyers are not just paying for the player Shaw is already, but also the player he will become.

I don't think he is the new Bale, but i can see him being new Ashley Cole, with a bit of Baines. That's easily worth 30M.

With a poxy 5 days of the window left my interest is finally ignited!!! At tleast we won't have to wait long to see if someone is in the offing, I do think it would be unusual of Pochettino to say a deal was on the cards unless it was fairly close. I'm hoping for Vela.

I've been playing it over in my head if we were to part with Luke Shaw for £20-25+ million and I would be gutted if he left but it also wouldn't be the end of the world for that kind of money for an 18-year old left back. As a few people have said he has a lot of potential but so did Theo Walcott and there is no way he is at the level now that Arsenal thought he would be when they paid for him. He's still good but he didn't progress as some may have hoped. If we pocketed £25m and were in need of a left back we could easily fill the gap and have considerable change leftover. I think it's more about the changing ethos of the club, that we won't feed our best prospects to the bigger clubs in our quest to establish ourselves in our own right.

To reiterate, I would hate Luke Shaw to leave and it would be disappointing if we couldn't keep hold of him but it wouldn't be a disaster.

Well he didn't say it was on the cards, so I'd prepare yourself for possible disappointment.

Maxi Lopez to sign for Sampdoria, maybe this paves the way for Us to sign Eder?

Peach saying he expects Osvaldo to leave before Friday and Saints to sign a new striker.

I'd like us to aim a bit higher than that really.

Same here, but if it comes down to needing to get Osvaldo out for the sake of the dressing room, and signing Eder as a stop-gap in the meantime, then okay.

We should do what Swansea have done with N'gog. Get someone in cheap on a short term basis, then look properly in the summer.

I'd much rather us do this than spend bigger on a panic buy.

As I said, if our first/second targets aren't realistic in the next couple of days, if Eder is possible - bring him in on loan.

I just want a solid pro. Someone who can score goals but won't rock the boat.

I can't see Eder bringing anything to our team tho. I have watched him a feel times and he looks average.
