Barton and Jose will be gone. Harper will be reserve keeper, so as to keep young Krul at NUFC. Smith will be gone, but even if he stays, he will rarely play, next season.

So who will rally the troops, and give guidance/encouragement to the kids, like Ferguson, Donaldson, Richardson, Lua Lua etc?

Tiote? His english is not yet good enough.
Taylor? I'm not sure how popular he is in the dressing room.
    Colo? Too quiet
    Ameobi? Yeah right!

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm worried that the wheels are about to come off.

Tiote doesn't need good English - a stare from him is better than 1000 words

    How about Pardew?

I reckon it's in his remit.

Unfortunately, although he will do his best to put a positive shine on things, like he did when Carroll went, the players know who calls the shots, at NUFC, and it's not him.

The same happaned at Chelski after Wilksons was sacked against Ancellotti's wishes. From then on the Italian was a "dead man walking" and that was apparent in the attitude of the players, from then on. Then, at the end of the season, he was gone.

Steven Taylor really is the only choice IMO. He's passionate, vocal, local, and, when he's fit and in-form, is a good player. This season could be the making of the man.

I have never understood why people think a captain should be a constant starter. I agree that a team needs a leader on the pitch but this doesn't necessarily need to be the captain. I see a captain as someone who the players respect enough to go to with problems, and a player who is a perfect role model to other players. Lets just say Harper got the armband but Krul started ahead of him most games, this doesn't effect his authority in the team and the other players respect for him.
