QPR told to pay another â¬1.5m and Arsenal target is theirs after first offer Posted by SPORT WITNESS on January 26, 2014 at 8:23 in Sport Witness Football View Discussions . QPR were late coming to the Georges Ntep party but look like walking away with the prize if a relatively small disagreement over price can be overcome before the transfer window slams shut on Friday. Arsenal had long led the chase for Ntep and we covered that going back as far November when Wenger was said to be ready to pay as much as â¬10m for the young forward. That sounded too much for Ntep, as we said at the time, his Ligue 1 experience is minimal and he's a talent who will have to work hard and be right mentality if he's to fulfill the promise he's shown. Wenger said as much when speaking to French TV at the end of last year and it could be worries over that which have made Arsenal back out. AS Roma in Italy have also been linked as they continue a policy of recruiting talented youngsters, Serie A's Genoa have even made an offer. Rennes have also made an offer but Ntep has his heart set on QPR for the higher wages and the lifestyle he could have in London, according to L'Equipe. The only problem is that QPR and Auxerre are â¬1.5m apart on price. The French club want â¬6m and QPR have offered â¬4.5m. L'Equipe expect another offer from QPR before the end of the transfer window, this could be a last minute deal
"Rennes have also made an offer but Ntep has his heart set on QPR for the higher wages and the lifestyle he could have in London" Oh dear. Hope he's interested in playing some football.
I noted that too. Unless I am mistaken, Arsenal is also a London club yet this fella wants QPR. It seems the player does not like Wenger's valuation and terms although, in fairness, the bench warming v regular first team football may also be a major factor. Hopefully.
So if we get Ntep which I certainly hope we do as sounds like an exciting prospect, does this then spell the end for Hoilett who has been underwhelming in his time with us?
I read elsewhere that the expectation of playing regularly was his main motivation for choosing us over Arsenal.
I'm just not sure about this one. I agree about the first team opportunity theory at Arsenal but they are at least a dead cert for Champions League next season and will also be in the Prem too. Most players bang on about playing in the prem and then playing in Europe, we are not back in the promise land just yet. I have to be honest I'v never seen this guy play so can't really comment on if he will be any good for us. Judging by the amount of posts on the Ntep thread I guess most on here rate him. I'm just still not convinced about our scouting and transfer policy of recent years. If he does sign I hope to be proven wrong.
