Can't disagree with that. Apart from caring about wages. It's what been one of the major issues in getting new signings through the door. So glad Ellis is addressing it and I'll accept any contracts given to our players or new players as I'm now safe in the knowledge that Ellis is addressing the issue. <ok>

You too fella. Like your thread said, we should fear nobody but I'd obviously like us to get the easiest draw possible as the luxury to rest some key players around crucial league games would be a bonus.

I think we have a very, very good team in place right now, not playing staff but from owner down to the coaches, we just need to get it right on the pitch and i'm 110% convinced that Gus is the final piece of the jigsaw.

I still think we will see a couple of new faces through the door before the deadline and i'm convinced we will escape relegation.

The PR department is as dire as ever. (The PDC media situation, An unwillingness to utilise the media to obtain transfer targets) but apart from that I think we have the best board and executive roster we've ever had. (in my lifetime anyway) Very happy with the way the club is being run. I think by the end of Poyet's 4 transfer window he'll have his own very good team with most of the present squad in the past. We're on to a good thing here that's for sure.

Glad McBardo's back in the thick of it. He seems leaner and fitter than he has for a while and he's certainly earned his corn lately.

Personally I couldn't give a single **** what he earns, it's none of my business, that's between him & the board, nee **** else.
And Bri, if you'd grafted your arse off at work & they halved your pay would you be happy?
Anyhow, it's irrelevant because if they don't offer him what he's on now it gives him freedom of contract.

No mate I wouldn't. But I still wouldn't offer him another contract on his present wage. Football employment is different. He'd be free to find another club. I know it's not his fault he's over paid I acknowledge. But it's bad business to make the same mistake twice imo.

No worries mate I enjoy your too. If you read my posts on this thread from today it won't take you long to get to the root of my problem. I'm still sore. It's gonna take longer for him win me round, he's going about it the right way though and he'll get no abuse from me.

I know he's going through a purple patch at the moment but at the time he had his beef with Di Cannio he was playing ****e and Di Cannio had every reason to drop him. I would take the £1 million off Fulham, he's not going to get a contract off us that he is on now and will leave for nothing in the summer. I also think he's part of the drink culture that's present at Sunderland

At that time he was recovering from and injury and wasn't fully fit, so yes he wasn't on top form. And would that be part of the drinking culture that has lost only one of their last 12 games?

Have to admit I said that - but am happily eating the humblest of humble pies at the moment.

I said it only because of the instagram twitter pic thing - not because of the Casino as, personally, I couldn;t give a flying **** what he does with his money!

He has re-earned my respect and deserves a new contract. Just hope he doesn;t do the "Bardsley new contract thing" and rest on his laurels after getting it - every time he's been player of the season it's been to earn him a new deal - he's doing the same this season. If he gets a new one then he must fight to keep it at that level rather than letting performances slip as he has in the past on a new deal (IMO)

    Absolutely spot on.
I can just imagine the conversation.

"Look Phil we know you're doing a great job in defence and running up and down the wing.
Oh and looking like the only person who is going to score on a regular basis but...........
would you mind taking a pay cut so you are on less money than the rest of the overpaid twats?" :p

I'm not privy as to what our players earn, some of you seem to be.
I suspect that Cuelar & Larsson are on a parity with Bardsley.
Who would you rather have in the team?

To be fair mate, prior to this season he's been dreadful (not the only one) for 2 straight seasons. The season before those two he did well, suprise suprise it was a contract season. He has got form for raising his game in contract season then resting on his laurels in other seasons. I'm cautious because I've seen this twice before (both in contract seasons)

Who would one rather have in the team? Easy, none. And as they're all out of contract at the end of the season it would be tara to the lot of them, Gards too.
