Very interesting views about the news on Nolan from fans and pundits. Also heard Nolan is 29 next week. Someone is saying that we have no replacements for injuries in midfield if Barton and Jonas go which is probaly true considering the african cup of nations is happening in January.

    Anyone listening?

Barton and Jonas go... Tiote in Africa. We're left with:

    Ben Arfa
    Gosling
    Cabaye
    Guthrie
    Ferguson
    Raylor
    Smith
    Vuckic

May have missed people... but seems like depth to me.

    I agree.

Last time I waved to him he waved back and that shows his intention to stay.

I agree. Just pointing out we'll still have numbers in midfield if he did.

Smith will probaly be off, Vuckic doesn't get a sniff but what im talking about is if the likes of Cabaye and Ben Arfa do get injured then are these the type of players that are good enough to replace them.

    Raylor - Don't think so
    Guthrie - Maybe
    Smith - No
    Vuckic - Don't know

But Vuckic has got to start playing, and with Nolan going does he become back up to Ben Arfa? I hope so. Guthrie is good enough to replace any of our midfield, he can play any midfield role. Smith will probably go but even then we've got Gosling who will hopefully stay fit.

It's still early days though in the transfer window so we don't know what the strongest line up will be.

I hope Vuckic gets a chance in pre-season to try and make his way into the first team.

Just thought. If Jonas does go -and I suspect Barton may know something of his intentions for him to have mentioned it - will as us fans the come on here to see that it's "good business", he doesn't produce the "end result" often enough, and Ben Arfa will be a better option on the left anyway?

TBF, that's what I think currently but again he's a good player and at worst very good squad depth.

Think Barton just rates himself, Jose and Jonas as the 3 highest rated players on short contracts.

And i wouldn't want to see Jonas leave, definitely not, and Ben Arfa will be playing centrally i think.

Hopefully the owner will have some sense and buy decent replacements
