Spot on - and Heskey was the best around for that purpose ... he rarely fouled anyone (unlike Crouch) as he would invariably win the ball by his sheer physicality (which also forced defenders to foul him in contrast) - he also had tremendous pace for a 'big man' ... I'll happily accept that he divides opinion ... but he was IMHO a worthy England international in his time ... we would not have beaten the Germans 5-1 that night without his all round contribution - he terrorised them ...
Apart from that game skinning Wayne Brown & then rounding Myhill .... ... just to old, not what we need, now.
erm Shearer scored the winner in a 1-0 vs Germany in 2000 Crouch will forever be under-rated, it's probably one of his strengths!
You think one goal is a convincing enough argument to show that Shearer was as good then as he was in 1995? Shearer was still a very good player in the early 2000s, a very good player indeed. All I'm saying is he wasn't as good by then as he had been at his absolute peak in 1995, when he had a little more zip and scored goals as if they were going out of fashion.
Spot on fosse. Heskey wasn't fashionable but he created goals by his work rate and movement. A lot of his strike partners for club and country say heskey was their best strike partner. I had hoped McLean would be our equivalent but I was sorely mistaken on that one. I hope you and Mrs fosse and family are well
