Interesting that every manager but Laudrup has bought some stinkers.

Also interesting that the 2 strikers we can see we got most value from (we won't know with Michu and Bony until they leave) were by far and away Jason Scotland, followed by Lee Trundle and Danny Graham ....yet both Scotland and Graham received plenty of stick while they were here, and some still don't miss an opportunity to give them some stick!

Surely there should be a multiplier for a higher division. You can't compare goals in the Premier League to goals in League One.

Yeah, course...but it's complicated. ..too many factors to take account of.

The key is did they score and did they make a profit.
Paul Connor was a success but Trundle scored 1 in 2 ish and made a clear mil at a time when a million was enough to fund the transfers of Rangel, De Vries, Ash Williams, Bodde and Scotland (did he get Pratley for £50k as well or was that Jackett).

The Scotland business achieved something similar and I imagine Michu will have the same effect.

I'm confident Bony is going to be at least as successful a piece of business as Graham.

I think you are right, unfortunately the profit we may see from Bony may not placate my sorrow to see him leave. Such a shame a guy who is such a good finisher has come here and not had the service, if he was here last season he'd have had so many in the back of the net!!

Can you imagine Bony playing in front of somebody like Beckham crossing the ball! This guy is easily a 20+ goals a season machine with the right service.

The cross into the box wasn't bad either , it's a pity he wasn't quick enough to get on the end of it instead of it being Lamah ?

If Nottage Jack is reading feel free to improve on what I've done above...get the impression you do stats, or maths at least, for a living....specifically wonder about how to calculate the worth of individual goals based on prize money rewarded (got a feeling I'd need way too much data for that though).

About ten minutes into a pre-season friendly against Reading it became obvious that Wilfried Bony was going to be value for money. On recent form he's looking like an absolute bargain and someone we could easily double our money on.

Anyone still in doubt on any of those statements isn't worth the time arguing with, unless it's Dai in which case the comedy value makes it worthwhile.

Which is why people who think Trundle was better than Scotland are deluded fools.
