Honestly, if Juan goes abroad and we can buy a striker or CDM with the money, I think all parties would be happy.

Spot on - it's a question of room for manoeuvre given our financial report; reluctantly I would be happy to sell him abroad for top dollar and it could strengthen our hand with a view to landing someone like Diego. We certainly don't want to sell our top talent to a domestic competitor like Utd..........that's Tottenham's party trick.

It is very clear Mata is not happy, and it's not a question of "if" but "when" he goes. His below par performances are a direct result of his state of mind and his inability to play Joses" way , which is not his natural game.
Willian's "mistakes" I mentioned are his poor passing and misplaced back kicks. He will sort this with more experience, but I hope he doesn't lose his flair for the tricky pass. Have a look at the replay and see how many times his passing let him down. It's just his eagerness to please, and not a major criticism of him. Ramires on the other hand is just a poor passer ,full stop, which is why he is not the one to give us control. His value is his energy and drive forward, wish a few more had it. Almost every player has strengths and weaknesses, mixing them is the Managers job and pleased to say, ours is starting to do it better. He has identified our real needs, striker, midfield control, CDefence, and will surely add players to join the pieces together. Playing Luiz in midfield was a big move by Jose, and shows he is getting on top of things.

Jose's way, natural game, is the same. I dont understand why playing football is so hard, if you can play, and have the ability just do it. Mata has not shown anything this year that has endeared himself to anyone. Back on topic. Thanks Juan, but your attitude and delivery has been poor this year. Sorry if I have upset anyone but that's the way I have seen it.

Well wasn't I made to eat my words!! Astounded and saddened it had to come to this but he did a great job for us and I wish him well for his bid to make the World Cup team. A player of his quality deserves nothing less than to play amongst the biggest and best in world football. It's just a shame he won't do it at united.

You shouldn't have been made to eat your words - this is a totally incomprehensible deal. Thing is, he is that good that he could easily rejuvenate a team that has Rooney and Van Persie. They may just get 4th position now which will be enormous for next Season.

How could you sell such a gem to them????????????????????????????

I am absolutely and totally pissed off with this whole thing of him leaving. (being forced out !!) He is a fantastic player, and yes hasn't been playing to his full potential lately but that's because he's been forced to try and play like someone else just to appease Jose.
I for one have been enjoying the fact that Man U have dipped this year changing things a little at the top, and making it more interesting, but I think with Mata now going there they not only have a skilled player but will also be able to use him as leverage to other top class players who may not have otherwise joined.

Juan Mata said: "I am thrilled to be joining United. I have enjoyed some very happy years at Chelsea but the time has come for a new challenge. United is the perfect place for me and I am excited at the chance I have to be part of the next phase in the club's history.

"Chelsea is a top club and I have many friends there but you cannot turn down the chance to join Manchester United. I look forward to helping the manager and the team be successful in the coming years."

David Moyes said: "Juan is one of the finest playmakers in the game today and it's a real pleasure to have secured his signature. He's been instrumental in Chelsea's recent success, with a notable 28 assists and 32 goals in his last two Premier League seasons.

"I have been impressed with the excitement he has shown to be part of the new Manchester United. I know our fans have admired Juan for some time now – he has always played well against us – and I know they will be delighted to see him in the red of United, starting on Tuesday."

Good to see him give us some recognition, unlike some former players.

    Farewell Juan, good luck!

I am angry, sad, disappointed and shocked (mostly at the club) to see him leave at that price and for Manchester United of all teams.

Thank you for your time and service to Chelsea Football Club, Juan Mata. I wish you all the best in the future for both your career and life. It has been a pleasure having had and watched you play with us. Farewell.

Utd have not just got themselves a world class player but an absolute gent. He embraced Chelsea from day one with so much enthusiasm. To be voted your club's best player two seasons in a row takes a special player and special he was ! His goals, his artistry on the ball, his personality on and off the pitch would so remind you of the great man himself Zola. All the best to Juan and even though i'm gutted to see him go i can (sort of) see why.

United have to be thankful to Chelsea for selling them such a great player. I use the word great advisedly as no one gets POTY twice at a big club unless he is truly special.

His behaviour on the pitch has just been exemplary and off it too. And I must say that Jose showed class by letting the player play at a top club rather than stay on the bench in WC year.

He had only good words to say about his former club, teammates, and manager and supporters. Within 24 hours and without touching a ball he is already a huge asset to United (definitely much more than £37m if the huge boost can ever be quantified) and he is a player who United supporters can truly get their children to idolise without any misgivings.

A true model professional and an example to all. <ok>
