I guess this now begs the question where does Chambers fit in!

Perhaps we can play 3 at the back and have 2 attacking wing backs providing us with some width?

    utterly uninspiring..

I consider myself to follow football pretty vehemently but this guy is not someone that I'm familiar with. I can see some value in bringing in a right back, but at 31 he clearly is a short term fix..

Which begs the question of if PJ made this decision, would we all be howling in derision at the decision as it Smacks of desperation and lost the plot etc. etc.

I would much prefer for us to have brought in Brayford but I will wait to see if this guy can swing my initial attitude and prove why he is being brought here <ok>

The problem is KOPR that we have not got any money to spend and so we have to beg and borrow other clubs for their players who are surplus to requirements! This is the brave new era under Marcus Evans! <ok>

I'm a bit confused with this decision but will wait and see how it all pans out before slating Mick or the player.
As JWM says, maybe we will go to three CB's.
To be honest KOPR, it does smack of desperation. Hopefully it's just a short term fix to get us through the season. Hewitt will be a permanent fixture at RB next campaign.

got to agree with SD, lets just see how it pans out. I reckon its just back up to chambo, unless we sign titus then i can see us going 3 at the back.

Quite agree " with utterly uninspiring.. " King_of_Portman_Road, however I'm referring to your post.

Richardson is a very decent right back, who was more than capable of helping Saints get promotion to the premier league.

We don't have the financial restraints to sign what we all would love, so I am quite liking Mick's as Tractor Boy has well put it, round hole in round peg solution.

Whether people like Mick or not, he is at least taking the common sense approach to sorting this team out while not bankrupting the club.

Now can we sign a midfielder between now and January 31..........

I see this purely as a bit of competition for chambers. He knew his place in the team was certain each week so this might push him a bit more. I don't this Hewitt is ready to challenge for a first team place, maybe he will be next year so a loan in the meantime makes sense to me.

Hewitt is currently planning CM for Gillingham, and in all honesty start of this season pulled up no trees at RB. Perhaps he could be better at CM?

Slightly dissapointed that Mick doesn't have the confidence in Hewitt, as far as I've seen Hewitt was no worse than Chambers at RB infact I'd argue that he's been no worse defensively but was better going forwards. Last season we heard, this is no time to try youngsters but surely a season like we're experiencing currently would be the ideal situation to throw him in? As I've said before he seems to have no problem chucking Mings in who has impressed me far less.

It seems another common sense uninspiring signing, risk averse, please Mick every once in a while take a risk!!I geuss this will mean Hewitt will be now have his loan extended which will be good for him in that he will be getting games but one season he's got to make the break through, we all said it would be this season then it's next, I just get the feeling he could fall by the wayside. It's frustrating when you see players like Nouble, Hyam and Mings given a chance yet some of the players who I would consider more talented aren't given as many chances, I geuss that's just Micks way. Also for me I don't think a RB is going to make much difference to us in the grand scheme of things a creative midfielder or a tricky winger on the other hand would

I'm not sure Mick will go 532, remember we only have 3 CB's, it'll just mean Chambers, Smith and Berra competing for those 2 spots, which I don't see as a bad thing.

Maybe Mick wants to try Berra up front?
