I've not started thread for a long time but, whilst reading about the current January transfer window movements (or not!), on the LFC website, I found some posts that looked remarkably familiar. I'm posting them here and I'd like people to add their views on the posts. Feel free to agree, disagree, praise or destroy any post. I've numbered the posts so replying to specific ones is easier. This user is currently posting as Passingtheball but, to paraphrase Rolf 'didn't-touch-any-kids-honest' Harris, can you tell who it is yet? ... ... Fantastic imaginary prizes go to anyone who agrees with me!
I miss that guy even though I didnt agree with him 99% of the time Mind you,, we may see him if we dont sign anyone in the next 7 days
I always got on with him and as has been said disagreed with him but once Rodgers and the team started doing well MFG disappeared and that spoke volumes.
You can have a go at Mupp for his non acceptance of Rodgers and him still unable to accept Kenny's sacking but I remember him from bbc606 and always got along with him, I think he was good for the our board in so much as he always had an alternative and opposite view to most of the others and that sparked some good debate but his posts got sporadic and he eventually vanished, he was our very own wum and leaves Smiffy and co in the shade.
I'd love him back and I'd love to have known if he was still so pissed off with life after the 5-0 vs Spurs I miss knowing BR's win ratio too
it's comments toward fsg do sound like that but the words fan boys? thats not the muppet i don't think.
Hmmm, -phraseology doesn't sound quite the same as MFG to me, though I suppose he could vary his style according to where he was writing. Also, in the above quotes at least, Brendan gets off lightly whereas he seemed to be smack in the cross-hairs in MFG's attacks on here. As for missing him, I'm not sure. I said in a different thread that despite our differences, all the LFC posters on here had the club's best interests at heart- to me MFG was more concerned with being right and seemed almost disappointed when we did well. He seemed to want us to fail, and that doesn't sit right with me. I liked his curmudgeonly persona and his dry wit, but I'd rather see it used for us than against us.
didn't we used to have another really negative fan on here who followed us from the original 606 - I've forgotten his name though :-/
I do miss Muppet Finder a bit, If I'm totally honest. I found his posts quite good until his position became increasingly entrenched and lithified. After that he did sound like a broken record and seemed a bit obsessed with being proven right about BR and FSG. I agree with Saint that perhaps the phraseology isn't quite identical to when MFG posted on here, but again agree that it's not outside the realms of possibility that he/she could vary their style. Certain turns of phrase don't quite ring true but others certainly do -- e.g. '...FSG fans can keep using KK as a scapegoat (a futile exercise in historical revisionism)...' in number 3. MFG, like us all, loved KK, but sometimes it seemed to cloud his judgment at times. All in all, I'm happy with your responses, chaps. Not a single 'sympathy post'. Just out of interest, on the same page there was a poster called smithy101. Anyone read any of his posts? Outside possibility he/she could be our currently absent salford friend Sm1thy? He seems rampantly negative towards everything LFC, has the same name and it's got a '1' in it. Coincidence?
