the first illustration is way better than the Highways proposals, though not much architectural design to it, plus the height would be the problem!..but I do think it's got more appeal, it has the same feel as the Humps at the other end of the Marina. The underpass would cause all kinds of problems as we would have to go down very deep. I think a lot of excavating machinery was lost last time it was attempted.
As Angus Young said when he suggested an underpass.... I'm sure if we've already managed to create a tunnel that passes under the Thames in London and the Tyne in Newcastle, we can surely do it under Castle Street in Hull? They're planning on digging down, further along for the Mytongate junction; and it wouldn't actually have to go that deep - if the underpass is in-line with Princes Dock St and Humber Dock St, it means the decline can start further back.
