I don't know too much about the goings on there, but does anyone reckon the relatively easy ride Moyes is getting at the moment is partly to do with the people most likely to rally the troops are the ones that upped sticks to FC United?

I wouldn't say he's getting a relatively easy ride based on the Mancs I know.

Moyes has promised Utd fans that they WILL take part in a major European Competition next year. Even if he has to write the song himself.

To be fair to him, the Premier League does take place in Europe. And is considered major by some.

How do you know he's getting an easy ride?

The FC United fans I've seen down at Church Road have been predominately scarfers.

Maybe they'd lob their flasks at him.

From the mancs I know he isn't getting an easy ride.

His 6 year contract would (in my eyes), mean he is given a lot more time than normally would be allowed. They'll no doubt give him a year or 2 to settle. Should nothing happen then they'll ship him out. BetVictor have him down as 1/6 not to finish his 6 year contract. But anything could happen in that time, he could go on to greatness and move on to manage Barcelona. So that's a bit of a silly bet.

I was only going by a glance at their board and snippets off the news. I was thinking of the FC United fans I met through work, and they weren't exactly shrinking violets.

I reckon he's getting a relatively easy ride because they're still in the Champions League, are 1 game away from a Cup Final (these things become important to clubs like that when they're doing **** in the league), and are only 2 results away from being in the top 4. That and their fans are still deluded enough to think they've got a chance of winning the league.

My theory (based on sod all) is that Fergy wanted someone who some would see as credible, but that would struggle so Fergies achievements looked even better. There's also the other managers liable to be in the market after the World Cup.

its not Moyes that is being given time to adjust
its Man Utd thats being given the time to adjust from Fergie

Im sure the board would loved to see a continuation of successes Fergie had but i reckon they are well prepared for a big wobble and why a manager like Moyes was sought .

Do you think Fergie's success would have continued had they got Mourinho as their manager?

Getting Moyes was sort of a settle for second best kind of situation and they'll just ride it out should it go slightly awry.

I saw Tom Cleverly on SSN today

I always thought he was a southerner but he sounded like a cross between that bloke off Shameless and Liam Gallagher.

He was born in Basingstoke apparently.

I always thought he'd sound like beaker off the muppets. Dunno why.

Is Basingstoke as bad as Stoke?

    Not sure.

I've been on the bevvy in Basingstoke but never Stoke.

Basingstoke was fairly **** to be honest.

Aye, but that's like reckoning the HDM site or local radio gives an idea about City. "I didn't go but..."

I wouldn't argue either way to be fair, I just had a quick squint on the Man U board and they only seemed to have one anti-Moyes thread, and that had a fair few defending him. Quite readily admit he's hated by the though, I never could stand the over-rated bug eyed, whining ****e, especially having seen the cynical way he had everton playing.
