Before Christmas I was 75% confident the name change would not stand a chance due mainly to solidarity from the fans. However, I now think its closer to a 50/50 chance. There is no doubt in my mind from comments on here and HDM/Humberside that there is a reasonable proportion of fans that don't give a toss about the name Hull city AFC or indeed it's history. A 50/50 chance of the demise of Hull City AFC within 6 months from now is not a gamble worth taking! A deal with Allam should be considered that may suit all parties: Allam gives Hull City AFC to a supporters trust set up to continue the club. This is the club name and its history. They do not get anything else. Everything else is retained by Allam. Squad/manager/staff, kc terms, etc. In return the trust gives Allam its golden share that enables his club to play in the Premier League. Allam gets a team called Hull Tigers that he can market in Asia/wherever. Hull Tigers play at the KC with the current squad/manager/staff. Hull Tigers fans get to see Premier League football (provided HCAFC stay up). Hull City AFC start again with nothing but its history at the bottom of the football pyramid. I'm sure in liaison with the FA this type of arrangement is possible and may be the only way of ensuring the survival of HCAFC. Allam gets what he wants, Hull Tigers fans get what they want, and although HCAFC possibly gets the raw end of the deal, I believe it is a price worth paying for ensuring the clubs survival.
"Before Christmas I was 75% confident the name change would not stand a chance due mainly to solidarity from the fans. However, I now think its closer to a 50/50 chance." Remember a lot of these pro puppets are not real fans. They're just local 'footy' customers who can see the stars more easily than in the past. Come relegation they'll be gone again, and we'll be left with a ground full of CTWD fans.
Or, what if the person that put in an application to the FA for a club called Hull Tigers before Allam did, offers to let Allam have that and its league status (it's seemingly worth billions) and in return we keep Hull City AFC
You do talk some ****e... when City dropped out the Premier League last time, the average attendance only went down by 3000 supporters.
How about we wait and see what the FA decide?, I still think Mr Allam could get a nasty surprise when the decision is announced. Going on his previous words and actions can anyone really believe that he has any intention of even discussing his plans with anyone let alone reach any sort of compromise. I think the only thing that would satisfy him is permission to change the name of our club and to see CTWD disbanded. I hope he will be disappointed on both counts.
Pearson Park, another change of name, & sex this time after his embarrassing drivel a few nights back.
