well r3 like most topics it enters into a slanging match ,which i dont want to be part of by the way, the serious nature of what happened within the club is what still concerns me .
But again, you are relating it to Gus. I am talking about the players. I have nothing but praise for Gus, that is not, and never has been the point here. I know mate, that's my point, it's certain players. Not PDC or Gus, or MON or Bruce. Players.
That is one of the downsides of this forum, where some posters don't seem to except that others will have a different opinion and so resort to insults...
summat's been rotten at the club since summer two and a half years ago, when bruce brought in ten players was it? since then we've been in a cycle of under-perform, don't give a ****, get the manager sacked, get a new one, sort it out for a few months, under-perform.
Sorry Stu i was just saying its a strange saying " bites the dust" just wondering where it came from.
Massive part of why I'm on less. Forums are surely to share opinions etc, or what's the point? Throwing names is bullshit.
Dear me, the way some on here are talking we were playing **** football under PDC. The same old faces calling him a lunatic and talking as if his tenure here was all bad. The bloke walked into a club populated by unfit players both mentally and physically supplied to him by MON. Why not have a go at MON for the state he left our team in? There was a clear difference shown as PDC's regime started to kick in, we were still grafting at the end of ninety minutes and actually started to look like a team. We were passing and thanks to the better fitness actually moving for a return pass. Under MON the players were getting rid of the ball as soon as possible then saying that's my bit done and just standing still. They were playing some of the worst football with lack of effort I have seen in 50 years. Then were so tired at the end of games we just sat back and allowed the opposition to pummel us. PDC's haters try to cover up the fact that we were actually playing some great team football under him, which was let down on too many occasions by schoolboy errors by so called professionals. Especially this twat O'Shea who lets us down regularly. Was PDC's rant against him because he knew he wasn't giving 100% ? Makes you think doesn't it? I can't actually remember us playing badly under PDC I just remember losing games because of **** errors like O'Shea's and even ****ter officials! Strange how the foreign players were buying into PDC's regime and it was our home grown partiers that didn't. He left the overpaid ****ers fitter and more organised, which truth be told was a big bonus for Poyet. We carried on the same as under PDC playing good team football with high energy, still had things go against us referees and individual errors, but the errors now weren't through lack of effort! Gus got it wrong first half the other day having us sit so deep at home, footballing sides like the Saints have to be pressed high up the pitch. In closing the players are getting better at team football let down by the same old faces and until they are out of the door, we will continue to struggle for consistency. O'Shea's idea of defending a corner is to grab the oppos player in a bear hug and hang on till the scramble is over. I am amazed the refs haven't penalised him for this on loads of occasions. He is too old too slow and needs to be ejected as soon as humanly possible. PDC's haters will continue to deride the bloke as it suits their agenda and totally ignore how much good he did. Me I will be grateful he removed the overpaid twats strangle hold on the club I love. Did he make mistakes? Of course he did, wore his heart on his sleeve and spoke before engaging his brain too much. But the strange thing is when he made those speaking out mistakes I actually agreed with what he was saying. And yes I agree in hindsight he should have kept some of them behind closed doors. He also made it plain the DOF wanted players he didn't and didn't want the players he did. How can any manager work under those restrictions? All this didn't make him a "lunatic" it meant he was naive thinking ALL the players would buy into his passion. He has left Poyet a great platform to take us to the next level and hopefully Poyet will take full advantage.
You seem to have a thing about bellends, still everyone to there own mate please educate me how its supposed to be spelt.
I didnt choose to make personal insults lads this bulls knacker Rooch3 always wants to do so with me so I give as good as I get. I was happy to debate the PDC v players thing in a serious way as its an important issue that divides us all at some point. Ask Rooch why he decided to make it a personal thing if you wish?
a well thought out post if i may say so , makes a hell of a lot of sense to look at the pluses from it rather than the usual finger pointing and blame senario
Don't often agree with you bonny lad but you make an extremely good point. This may be the best post of the day.
Its all about opinions though mate and I disagree with just about everything you say on this here. I certainly didn't see any of that great football you mention under him at all and I'd be interested which of the foreign players you say bought into his way unlike the domestic players? Players such as Diakite, Roberge, Karlsson, Sessegnon, Ba, Celustka, Cabral, Giacherinni hardly got a sniff under Di Canio? Maybe you meant Larsson? He was brilliant under PDC wasn't he? I did see him doing his best Il Duce impression and seeking the media to discuss club and team matters at every juncture mind and I did see us lose an awful lot of games under him AND take a right tonking at Villa. I saw him split the dressing room and take morale to an all time low and I witnessed us get off to a record breaking worst EPL season start with 1 solitary point out of our first 8 games. I'll bet you any amount of money you like no other EPL club will employ him to even cut the oranges in the near future and he will be next seen in a division he is better suited to such as the 4th tier or 3rd tier at the very best or go abroad to find his next set of mugs to con. Thats how good he is. He does though rank as possibly the worst ever manager in our history IMO and 1 derby victory, as spectacular and enjoyable as it was, does not mask the fact he was a disaster from beginning to very quick end here.
I believe that Di Canio did have some good points as well as his bad..However, he appears to have failed badly in the man management department which ultimately led to his downfall...His biggest fault lies with his ego, and until he manages to appreciate that he is not the be all and end all of a club, his good points, such as his enthusiasm and obsession with fitness, will never be enough to make him into a successful manager at the highest level..
Agreed. The highest he will ever manage will be the lower leagues or lower levels abroad. With that megalomaniac ego and destructive personality he will never get another top job in England at all.
Its quite simple cest i made one comment many moons ago and you called me every swear word your tiny fu-king mind could think of ending with your usual bell end so from that day i assumed you were a plank and you have never done anything to change that by the way you still have not told me how to spell nauseous correctly.
but... what if he learns to control that, and how to handle players with egos as big as his? his one failing is he ruled by fear and thought that commanded respect, and it didn't. his style of football, his thoughts about fitness, and hell, the comments in the media about our lazy arrogant players were all spot on. the only problem was he, and we, needed those unfit, lazy arrogant players.
It pains me to say it, but the football under MON was worse than anything I have seen in my 25+ yrs watching SAFC. Worse than Buxton, Butcher etc I am convinced we would have gone down last year if PDC hadn't been appointed. We were sleepwalking to relegation under MON in my opinion.
