Doesn't need to be a leg breaker? Kneeing somebody up the backside isn't going to break a leg, but it'll get you a red. No denying Luiz can be reckless, and if you look at our match thread you'll see I was getting annoyed with him and I think he probably deserved a yellow. There's nothing wrong with playing rough but Vidic was absolutely nowhere near the ball and did it purely just to hack Hazard down.
Pure frustration, blatant hack and no excuse really. Obviously played no part in the result but 3 games out now.
So why didn't the Villa player (Clark?) get sent off for doing exactly that to Suarez? We didn't even get a freekick!
Precisely, his own fault. There wasn't even a need to do it, not as if Hazard was the last man or they were only losing by 1/drawing. Don't think you're asking the right man. But it happened to Terry against Sanchez.
IMO, both the Vidic and Rafael challenges were red card worthy. The former because he makes a scissors type action and clearly goes in with a lot of aggression, the latter is as obvious as they come.
The John Terry one on Sanchez was an off the ball incident, so I don't think it's relevant. As any assault off the ball should be a straight red. Though if you knee someone up the backside going for the ball, then I don't think it's necessarily a straight red.
Well the ball was so far away from Hazard at the time of Vidic ploughing into him that I'd consider it off the ball too .
