Went for Vic. I know sometimes his passing is a bit wobbly, but he is so good at breaking up the play and I really think we would have more points on the board had he not got injured.
Lallana...how could I forget Adam I suppose it's because we have other good midfielders, but he brings leadership as well as skill.
Agreed. He would be the hardest player to replace right now. I'm not surprised this vote is a popularity contest. Typical from Saints fans. Much like them singing 'Adam Lallana he's going to Brazil' at the top of their lungs straight after Rodriguez got the opener against Sunderland.
Rodriguez is important right now because he is the only one with a bit of speed. But "indispensable", no. Despite the goals he scores he misses way too many chances and often in the same way; by putting in a very tame shot too close to the keeper. I doubt he'll go to Brazil but I still think Lallana will.
Do not think he should go to Brazil, however he is on course to score more than Rickie last year when Rickie was the joint top scoring English palyer. JRod also does not take penalties and he plays in a wider position. He needs to practice beating a keeper 1on1 as he could have had at least another 5-8 goals if he was really clinical. Imagine the player he could be if he could finish like Suarez (dreaming) or even like Sharp. Practice will hopefully make him think less as his game has improved alot since joining us
For me its the keeper. The other two just don't inspire confidence. Every other position I can kinda see a way around, but losing Artur was just stress inducing.
good point. if replacement was only from within artur would be critical. I think we could sign a comparable or at least workable keeper though. goals from rodriguez hard to replace but a loan like lukaku could be within our grasp if we needed one. Lallana, I just don't see how we could replace him. It would be economically unviable.
not sure yet, we may see if traore is in his league or not in coming months. I don't think it has to be in anyone's particular league though because as noted in this thread, although he's shown a lot of promise and tucked away a good number of goals this season rodriguez has been still been as wasteful as the rest of our forwards. edit: yeah remy too.
I know it's supposed to be one player, but for me it's a three-way tie between Wanyama, Boruc, and Lovren. Assuming Osvaldo can stay on the pitch (which may be a big IF), I think we could get by for a bit without Rodriguez. Not saying we wouldn't be hurt, we would be. But we would still have enough on offense to win some 1-0 games with our defense intact. Same with Lallana. Without Ramirez his absence now looms larger but assuming we just lost Lallana, we'd probably be able to get by with some combination of Rodriguez, Osvaldo, JWP, Davis.
we'd suffer for the lack of pace up front without rod though. edit: (if it's a no replacement question)
re-reading the first post, it's about who's worst to lose on the match day, which I scanned over. In which case, the goalie, centre backs, left back are the biggest concerns in that order
I think Rodriguez has a very good chance of going to Brazil actually. Frankly if Lambert doesn't up his game he might find Jay-Rod sitting in his seat on the plane.
Good point! Difference is that Newcastle will probably by Remy, Everton are going to have to replace Lukaku - something that WBA have found to their detriment
