Assem Allam gives Labour £100,000. Labour controlled Hull City Council say losing the word City because it is a lousy identity has nothing to do with us.
I'm sure if HCC had voted against it would just be seen by AA as another reason not to engage with them. I would like to ask supporters of Mr. Allam's financial management, if he thought the best way to provide financial security for the club was to redevelop the stadium and land, would it not be to the benefit of the club if he put aside his personal differences and actually speak to HCC?
The stance of the Labour side of HCC you mean, the other 2 sides wanted to back the Anti view. That said, Labours stance is fairly representative of the majority of the voters, i.e they just don't care enough to go one way or the other. You're right though Fez, and its what everyone should expect from HCC.
The FA Council I notice that according to the FA's own web site the FA Council's East Riding's representative is someone by the name of JD Suddards. He is one of many FA Council members that will vote on the name change subject. I'm interested in how this vote is registered. Is there a ballot before the meeting, or is it a simple show of hands at the meeting ? And is JD Suddards held to account as to which way he voted ? Is it his personal choice or does he need to take into account any views (both for and against) that have been impressed upon him ? Do all votes carry equal weight ? I'm genuinely interested in the mechanics of the voting system.
He isn't talking to them anyway, the person he butts up against has openly said he is against the name-change and Allam has made it clear he will not talk to them; so what's to lose? There was a time when I would have considered the sale/transfer of the stadium within some protective parameters, but my distrust of Allam is such that I have become opposed to the idea.
As all too often happens with politicians, they cut off their noses to spite each other's faces. It doesn't matter what the constituent parts of the assembly think, all that matters is the official voice of the council and they squeaked as usual.
I would personally be against any one individual or company owning the stadium but AA obviously thought the club could be self sufficient if his plans came to fruition. If he really had the best interests of the club at heart, he would be asking for HCC to talk. His point blank refusal means he therefore cares more about his personal pride than he does about the finacial security of the club. I would also suggest that in the further interests of financial security, he would want both the stadium and a name change as he thinks both will be financially beneficial.
A lot of the Councillors are very annoyed that the council as a whole were not given an opportunity to voice their opinions before an official response was given to the FA. Several are contacting the FA directly to advise them of this. As for the FA, there is definitely a vote, but it's very difficult getting details of the mechanics of the whole thing, they like to keep things very much in house. I'm pretty certain we won't get any information on the votes of individual members, we might not even get to find out how many voted for or against, we might only get the final result.
====== Right now I would vote NO to the name change if it was a simple yes or no question. But if it was Hull Tigers with Assem Allam or Hull City without Assem Allam I would vote YES. no one has to agree....and I don't presume I am right either. It's just how it is for me...
I think Mr. Allam, just like Vincent Tan, thinks that more money into the club automatically means more success. It obviously helps but I wonder how he will regard Steve Bruce if, having spent all this money, we struggle.
====== That was a great quote I hope we can ALL die when we want. Infact I'm going to get that tattooed under my light green Ribbon on my leg. I hope everyone on this board dies when THEY WANT. Hopefully that won't be for YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS YET. HUGS YOU TO BITS FEZ. we have different views.....but so what. Stay well always Fez and Family and have loads of great days x
That's what we like to see - a transparent governing body. The FA is riddled with corruption and mis-management. AA will buy or probably has already bought his result........
So Brady makes a decision, on behalf of the whole of HCC and issues it. Even though, seemingly, a lot do not agree with it. Dr Allam is just responsible for our football club. Brady and his ilk are responsible for far more things that touch on the lives of anyone who lives in and around Hull. I don't get it. Why not the same attitude towards HCC? They won't lose the next election. This makes me sadder than anything like a minor name change could do. Why do people vote for them?
So in the last few days we've had John Perscott who's been watching City back in 1950 coming out in favour of the name change and now Terry Geraghty who's been watching City since 1946 coming out against the change. You just couldn't make it up.
I think Obi just pointed a couple of facts. However, I will say this; YES, I THINK THE COUNCIL HAVE BEEN BRIBED BY ASSEM ALLAM. He GAVE THEM MONEY, THEY KEEP QUIET. What a ****ing disgrace, our owner is a ****, our Council are sleaze balls. No wonder this city has found itself in some of the messes it has. ALLAM BRIBED THE COUNCIL. ALLAM BRIBED THE COUNCIL. THE COUNCIL ACCEPTS BRIBES. ASSEM ALLAM OFFERS BRIBES. EVERYTHING IS ****. BRIBES HAVE HAPPENED.
