Correct and infact with more injuries we played better so that argument with injuries doesnt wash with me either, look at November for instance as a good example.
Rumour is Ola Toivonen has been sold but the name of the club is not known yet... Although I expect it to be a Turkish club.
Trabzonspor and Besiktas have both been much more heavily linked in January, there's been next to nothing on twitter or in the press linking us to go in for him again. Be interesting to see how he gets on in the Turkish league.
The player turned us down over the summer, doubt we even put a bid in. He'll be wanting higher wages not lower give that his transfer fee will presumably be quite low.
Not so much an argument as I've not got the patience to do so with you David. Your posts are nearly as predictable as Hughton's Saturday gameplans. I know exactly who has been injured and for how long, and for me, none of them are essentials in our team. Yes, Howson and Pilks are up there with two of my favourite players, but we can still put out a very decent team without them and have done most weeks. Considering we started with one up front, having a striker out wasn't the end of the world, particularly when we have Elmander and Becchio.
An agenda? What on earth are you talking about? Yeah, my agenda is my football team. Pull your head your arse squire.
So any real transfer news going on, or just playground politics between forum members? Maybe we should stand in a circle clapping and shouting fight?
the bigger picture is so far none of the bottom half teams have added players that could make a difference, apart from Hull
Agree with this. City have the opportunity (and money) to push on in this regard. There may be a quality permanent signing (hopefully a goal scoring ACM), but otherwise I suspect another loan deal similar to Gutierrez.
I think he'll move fairly late in the window. Lots of teams interested, but he's on high wages, getting on a bit and perhaps not the perfect signing. I reckon clubs needing a CB will try and look elsewhere, and then look to sign him late on if nothing else comes off.
Ah fair enough. If he's that much in demand and on such high wages probably not the best idea. Just thought he could have been worth a punt on loan seeing as it's a World Cup year. Might have been useful for RvW and Fer to dip their buckets in his well of wisdom.
I would be happy if I was an Everton fan. I think Aiden McGeady is a good signing and adds even more creativity to their side. I dont know if it has been confirmed yet but Lacina Traore is apparently having a medical with them today. If they were to start with him and Lukaku up front they would certainly have plenty of power upfront and I could see them being very close to top 4. In terms of us, I like Shane Long as a player like many seem to but I dont think thats where we need to strengthen. If he had moved on last summer and we werent interested I would have been disapointed but I dont think a striker is a priority now, maybe in the summer we need a better 3rd striker but for me we need another central midfield player to free up Fer and increase the quality feeding our strikers. As far as the window goes, its all a bit quiet and we havent been linked with anyone that excites me. Toivenen sounds like he is moving to Turkey/France, I hope Hughton has target in mind for the CAM role. Not sure on the point of this post as i have been interrupted writing it about 5 times. Bascially, I think we just need to bring in one quality CAM and I would be happy. I know befroe we were linked with Defour and I have heard he is available...... which could free up Fer to play further forward.
I disagree with your bit in bold. I agree with what you're saying about Everton. As for Shane Long, fast and puts in lots of effort, but massively overrated for me. The bit that sold it is a comment on the Hull board by a Hull fan saying that if those are the prices bandied around, Snodgrass must be worth £12m.
Defour needs to get his career back on track, but I genuinely don't think he'd come here. A nice little player, though! Agree re: Everton - I wouldn't want any of our centre backs going up against Lukaku and Traore, and both of our left backs would be tornn new ones by McGeady.
Thankfully we don't have to play them again this season ! I predict that they will take the 4th place slot.
