Sky are bigging up Januzaj as if he's an 18 year old Messi. Sounds like he's nailed on for YPOTY, I'm still to be convinced and think there are other options. Get those votes in please. Wouldn't surprise me if I've omitted an obvious candidate or two.
Danny Rose No, the Utd kid does look a star in the making. But I've been impressed by Sterling and Barkley with Barkley the most impressive.
Sterling broke through last season really, had a good few months, before going off the boil somewhat. That's why I omitted him, though he has looked better this season.
Yeah I know he broke through last year but there hasn't been many youngsters this year so chucked him in anyway!
Got to be between Beahino and Barkley for me. It's much more difficult for a youngster to impress when he's a regular choice and teams become more aware of them and both have done well. I'll go with Barkley, he's been less consistent but at times he's looked very impressive this season.
Barkley for me. I said about 12 months ago that I think he'll be the future of the English football and stand by it. Immense talent, if we didn't have 476 midfielders, I'd love him here at Spurs.
Good thing about Barkley is he's two footed but he's benefited from title winning midfielder Gareth Barry alongside him.
It's particularly good that Barkley's two footed as when you hear him talk it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't know his right from left anyway
Barkley has a more mature physique and seems better suited to the demands of PL football at present, but Januzaj has the touch and skill and will, ultimately, be the better player - and potentially is a superstar.
Barkley has a broken toe and is out for minimum 6weeks, so while he's had a good first half of a season, he's got a job regaining his place let alone form, so if another comes to the fore in the remaining games voting may change. Particularly if Bentaleb continues what I've seen so far, another player of North African descent, that just looks so incredibly comfortable and balanced with a ball. He holds his own in MF now surprisingly, but in a couple of years time when he's finished growing I think he's going to be a powerful player. I think I'm quite happy with Tims judgement there.
Barkely for the first half of the season, but watch out for Gnabry in the second half. With Walcott out injured, he has a chance to play more games and has slotted into the team with utter ease and is a huge talent.
Wasn't Redmond going quite well at Norwich to begin with as well? I remember seeing a couple of their games and thinking he looked dangerous on the ball.
He was but then lost form. Think he was more someone who comes from lower league, impresses for short period then fades off.
Redmond for me is typical of a young English winger. Fast, direct and tricky. It's just getting the balance right between being skilful in an attempt to make things happen and create chances, rather than perform twenty unnecessary step-overs in a row when a first time ball is required. For instance, Townsend although has plenty of skills to fall back on has calmed down on that front and has subsequently become far more of a threat for us. Don't get me wrong it is a good thing that English youngsters are prepared to try these tricks on the big stage, but the end product is most important. I watched an England under 21 game earlier this season where Zaha and Redmond were on the wings and every time Zaha received the ball he instantly did a step-over. In the end he became predictable and ineffective.
Jan-o-whats-his-face for me. Utd could be bottom half if it weren't for him. Looks dangerous every time he gets the ball and for an 18yr old his end product is top notch. Expect a big club to come in for him in the summer
