I have office 2013 and word. it was working this morning but the 2 year old thought it would be funny if she pressed daddies keys and pretended that she was helping him at work and since then every time I try to open a blank doc word comesb up with not working, looks for a solution and then boots me out. I have reinstalled but no help and the restore is not an option at the moment as I would have to re-install something else which would take too long so any suggestions to get out of this mess would be appreciated. it also effects excel but I do not need this for now. thanks in advance

have a look in the settings and particularly at the folders. something might have been changed in there.

if you have something you need to do urgently, open an existing file, save it as new filename and clear it out.

Alternatively, if it's incredibly urgent, and x's help doesn't work. There are open source programs on the internet like Open-Office which work just like Microsoft Word.

Did you uninstall the software first ? If not do so, assuming you have the install disk available. Otherwise, if you have the product key, call MS support & they'll fix it , or advise you how to fix it.
As GOVNOR suggests...look for a restore point before your little one "played around" and reset from that if MS don't give you any joy.
