:( no Liverpool love in the room

We may have Carroll but you got Rush, Barnes & Beardsley a few years ago

if I did one (I can't... I'm at work and don't have time) Newcastle would be my second team (would be third but West Ham got relegated)

I don't understand the hatred of Liverpool from Newcastle - I always thought there was something of connection between the 2 clubs because of their history.

Then again; they got Souness, so they may blame us for that.

Yep, Bozz, it seems Liverpool aren't so popular at the mo. Something to do with signing up a certain player and trying to outmuscle us on one or two other signings. As a long-term season ticket holder, I've always considered Liverpool to be much more popular than the other more successful clubs over the past 40 years or so. Just goes to show how fickle football's become. There's a BIG difference between to a club (history, demeanor, fans, etc) and team (management, current players). For example, do I particularly dislike Stoke City because of their recent record against us and the fact they play so physically and rather one-dimensionally? Not really, because tomorrow could be different and yesterday it certainly was. I've always disliked those 'money' clubs, mainly London-based. So my dream table is:

    1. Newcastle United
    2. Norwich City
    3. West Bromwich Albion
    4. Swansea City
    5. Bolton Wanderers
    6. Stoke City
    7. Wolverhampton Wanderers
    8. Blackburn Rovers
    9. Manchester City
    10. Sunderland
    11. Arsenal
    12. Wigan Athletic
    13. Liverpool
    14. QPR
    15. Everton
    16. Fulham
    17. Aston Vomit
    !8. Manure
    19. Chelski
    20. Spuds

One more thing, four to go down this particular season. Replaced by Ipswich, Carlisle, Hartlepool and Plymouth Argyle!

For me, it's just Dalglish. I can't stand him and you lot obviously worship him for everything he's done for your team which is of course fair enough. Not really got a long-running hatred of Liverpool like some; as I say I just dislike Dalglish. If I could be arsed to make a list on this thread, Liverpool would be in the middle/top somewhere. Certainly higher than the likes of ****ing Stoke and Blackburn thats for sure.
Edit - also yeah Souness.. shudder.

    I did it...

    1. Liverpool
    2. Newcastle (there are pictures somewhere of me in a Newcastle Away shirt - I wore it for a football tournament where our 5 a side team played in blue, it was one where you were sponsered by newcastle brown ale, the 1998-1999 kit I think)
    3. Villa
    4. Swansea
    5. Wigan
    6. Blackburn
    7. West Brom
    8. QPR
    9. Fulham
    10. Bolton
    11. Wolves
    12. Stoke
    13. Sunderland
    14. Arsenal
    15. Man City
    16. Everton
    17. Norwich (More Lambert then Norwich, His treatment of Colchester United was shocking)
    18. Tottenham (My stepchildrens family all support spurs and I hate the stick they have been giving me over the last 2 years)
    19. Chelsea
    20. Man United

Don't mind Souness really and quite like Dalglish, despite them both failing here. My hatred stems from a lot of my Geordie mates supporting Liverpool, for no obvious reason other than their success when we were bairns. Also I think a lot of us get pissed off at the media portrayal of the Liverpool fans as passionate when we get lumped with the deluded tag.

I've nothing against Kenny Dalglish. He did a very poor job and Newcastle but, in his defence, it was under difficult circumstances. Keegan had built a castle on sand (eg. no reserve team, little investment in youth), and Hall's true colours were becoming apparent (ie. he was wanting payback and more). Still, the dip in results and - worse - the tiresome football on the pitch under his management was a true indictment. Souness, on the other hand, is indefensable...
