Depends on the context. If you're on here talking about football, me and most of the world would think you're talking about City. None of that changes that fact it's never been a predominantly rugby city.
There you go DMD, this proves my point. Why in a football city would someone assume you support a rugby team if you just say the places name.
One person saying he associates Hull with FC doesn't in any way prove Hull is predominantly a football City. Most of the rest of the world hasn't even heard of rugby league.
Its always been: To those outside we are Hull or Hull City. From Hull its Hull City, City or The Tigers I ask folks from Hull if they are black and white or red and whites, Hull or rovers, FC or KR. If someone asks who I support its always Hull City. If Assem Allam is foiled in the name change but then tries again with Hull City Tigers, I would have to say that I would accept that to a degree, I would still buy a season pass. I would not like it, but I would consider it better than Hull Tigers. I would fully support the loss of AFC from the badge as although its the tradition, it isnt something I have a passion to hold on to.
I think it is very sad indeed that there are so-called supporters on here who are taking the opportunity to exercise their intelligence picking over the bones of the club name. Until this dipshit, megalomaniac owner decided to vent his spleen at HCC there was never one single call for a new name, not one single criticism of any part of it; in fact all I recall is pride and allegiance to Hull City AFC. Now we have all manner of clowns talking about compromise and how redundant AFC is. There were many clubs whose decided not to incorporate AFC into their club name and a few who decided to do so. Those that did have done so for many years, in our case 110yrs, which makes it a part of our historic name and a part of our heritage. Change it if you must, but do not deny the obvious. You are all hell-bent on finding a compromise for a man who is not looking for a compromise and for a situation where a compromise is inappropriate. It is bad enough when I read new-posters coming on here to post their worthless and shallow argument, let alone when previously respected posters do it. Go on, compromise or sell it out altogether, they are both one and the same; you have sunk to the same depths as the despot Allam. PL supporters is what you are, **** all to do with Hull City AFC.
Fez. Your view is just your opinion. You hate Assem Allam. Your never going to another game while he is here. Fine. But that's your view / opinion NOT the majority's.
Same he didn't understand what happened at MK Dons and why the FA is making sure they are not put in the same position again. Not too long to go.
What's the PL got to do with it? The reason for the compromise being discussed is that there are calls from outside of the club to try to find one. Assem Allam will not agree to a compromise and neither will CTWD. So Fez, I am as bad as Assem Allam in your view. You say that you have lost your respect for me as a poster, well that's fine. No point in ever having a debate with you if yours is the only one that is ever right is there. Hang on, who is acting the tyrant, forcing his view on others now. It's either accept your view or not be considered a Hull City supporter. Bollocks.
I don't hate Allam and have never said I do; I don't hate anyone, it's a word too strong for such things as the politics of a football club. I am not attending any home games or buying official merchandise until he rescinds his name-change request or he leaves - I do attend away games when possible - but in the home stands with friends. I have always made it clear that everything I post is my opinion and I do not foist it onto others; but I will question theirs, as I expect mine to be questioned; hopefully more accurately than yours. You know this do you?
