Not posted in awhile as I did not want the stigma of being a doom and gloom merchant. Just finished watching the game and watched TP on the touchline bawling and shouting and waving out his instructions as per norm ,whilst Hughes stood there shoulders slouched, hands in his pockets kicking his heels. Entertaining football is what we all craved and entertaining it is, but at the expense of the fact we are losing on a regular basis to teams we should be playing off the pitch. I still say Hughes will take us down!
Just posted re the lack of enthusiasm shown by Hughes. I didn't compare that to Pulis but it was very much in my mind. I'm not sure about the fans being the 12th man; I'm beginning to think Pulis was!
I'm sorry guys I don't agree. Questioning the lack of visual enthusiasm is one thing, but comparing him to that embarrassment of TP jumping up and down like a demented child - sorry I know which one I would prefer. I didn't go to the game today but I listened on the radio and the commentary stated how bad the game was and pointed out it was being dictated by TP and his usual tripe. They won the game on a error back pass - nothing to be proud off and his tactics will take him down. In relation to us we were ****, we move on.
WE WILL NOT GO DOWN. We did not have enough going fwd today and on another day some of those efforts from Adam would have gone in. I will be back to comment more on why we will not go down
Today was a missed opportunity but not the end of the world, we have shipped a few of recent but that is down to having players out, still think we will be ok at the end of the season.
Yep I agree we are going down, bring back tp, bring on the championship, yaaaay, we are in the same position as.we were last season but playing much better football in a higher level of football, I hope we get relegated so u glory hunters can go back into your caves Yaaaaayyyyy
Hughes has had half a season and fuk all budget, when he is given the luxury of TPs budget ANC time maybe we can then compare. Seems people are very quick to judge with very short memories!
Playing better football does not constitute keeping the ball longer and passing it about more. We are still as garbage now as we were under TP. Time to take your rose coloured glasses off Ricc! You refering to me as a glory hunter again? I've been a Stoke fan since the late 60's and watched proper football. Has Tenterden says we won't go this season, but rest assured I have no faith in Hughes whatsoever, under him and Pulis we won 18 games out of 81 and to me that's relegation form!
Waddo He is having to use the **** players PULIS brought in BUT, We will NOT go down, I was there today and Palace may have won but they were **** for the home team. Where did/have we seen and said that before. In Hughes I trust.
I dont understand why we are comparing the two? I dont think Hughes was anybodys first choice but if we take a step back and think about it logically there was no alternative. The budget had been raped and there was no more money or flexibility in the wage bill after TP had gleefully gone on a spending spree - which is why he was asked to leave. He even admitted it himself when he was interviewed and said that "the club" wanted to go in a different direction and if he didnt have complete control of the transfers and accademy (I.E Director of Football) he wouldnt want to continue. Hughes was one of the very few that would have wanted the job and be prepared to work under the financial constraints of the club. Additionally we had an ageing poor performing squad which was in relegation form. HUGHES: Played 22: Won 5: Drawn 7: Lost 10: 22 Points: 13th Position PULIS: Played 22: Won 4: Drawn 7: Lost 11: 19 Points: 17th Position So in answer to your statement Pedar, Yes it would have been likely that Pulis would have taken us down, although no one wished it. Those are simple black and white facts, non negotiable fact. However if we would like to throw in a couple of shades of grey how about the fact that Begovic and Huth have been out - even Pulis said that Begovic was worth 10 points over a season and there were games on the run in last season that he single handedly kept us in it and probably from being relegated! In addition, we have had some awful decissions that have cost between 3 & 5 points: Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle. The fact is that I would rather be where we are with Hughes than where CP are with Pulis. Its a personal opinion and I respect everyone elses - even if they are not willing to support Hughes......but why compare to TP? In addition, although Pulis likes to claim he won his first game in charge - he didnt. He was appointed on the morning of 23/11 and had no input into the first game. His results are respectable since considering the situation: Won 4, Drawn 1, Lost 5, 13 Points & 7 Goals scored and fair play to him. He does what he does best, will it keep them up? I doubt it but good luck to him.
Every season the Pulis-haters said he was going to take us down. Every season they were proven wrong. That doesn't mean that I don't think Hughes is doing a good job, it just means TP isn't the fecking antichrist some people shriek so hysterically about.
Waddo ,like you I haven`t posted on here for a while. It`s supposed to be a debating forum but if you are anyway negative it`s like being disloyal. So here`s my opinion:- I think that by the end of February we will be bottomof the prem!! Our next 5 league games are Sunderland away -0pts Man Utd home --0pts Southampton away 0pts Swansea home ---??? Man City away --0pts !! There`s more passion in a dead frog than Mark Hughes and this is shown by the team on the field! Pulis had passion but completely forgot that football is supposed to be entertaining!! He wasted millions ,and Hughes has inherited this dross so as far as I`m concerned he can`t be blamed for that. You can put lipstick on a pig,but it`s still a pig!! As for Mr Coates being expected to forkout many more millions on a striker when there is a distinct possibility we could be in the championship next year then I don`t blame him for being reluctant to pay over the odds for someone whose wages will be unaffordable for that league! Anyway we need a lot more than a good striker.
By the way I hurt just like the rest of you when we get beat.In fact I woke up @ 3am last night, worrying about our plight!
What have the alleged Pulis Haters got to with our position now? Nothing - so why start it? Again I dont understand.
Spot on Joe . This forum used to have some good debates and a real mates like atmosphere. With the sacking of Pulis and the appointemnt of Hughes the forum turned into the Oatcake. Like you rightly state your not allowed to be fearful of your teams plight otherwise your a glory hunter and live in a cave. i think that all the fans got so fed up with Pulis ball that any kind of change would do. Hughes is not the answer to Stokes going forward and that's my only beef. he is a multi millionaire that a. does not need the money and b. he won't care less whether we sink or swim!
SO I am a glory hunter and live in a cave, because I care how Stoke are doing, that's why I don't come on here much, I have just come on now because I wanted see how Hughes has done so far this season, so far I would give him 5 out of ten.
