I thought Jelavic was pretty good today. His miss was unfortunate but he was being closed down pretty quickly. One thing for sure, he worked himself into the right position beautifully. I was also impressed by the amount of hard work he did.
Our midfield was generally poor, though I think we looked far better and more creative when Boyd came on. I agree with a previous poster who said the 3-5-2 is starting to look defensive but that seems to be more a problem with the players approach to the game rather than the formation itself.
Finally, I think the ref was overall very good and the thing that impressed me most, was that he actually allowed players to TACKLE. There were very few of the soft frees that are wrecking the game.

After watching the highlights again 1) how unlucky Jelavic's shot and 2) McGregor was partly to blame for the goal. He's a great keeper and everyone makes a mistake at some point. Having said that we lost as a side and we'll do Crystal Palace I'm sure of it.

We were poor today but I think it would have been a very different result if Jelavic had buried that relative sitter in the first five minutes. That miss and the loss of Chessie ten minutes later totally changed the game. Koren, other than his early set up of Jelavic did little. I can't understand why Quinn didnt start in his spot. Both Thudd and Jake were off the pace and the mid-field looked tired and unimaginative. Elmo after starting brightly faded and Figueroa's distribution and positioning was awful again.

I'm a fan of Howard Webb but I thought he made several questionable calls against us today and it was obviously frustrating the players. I'd like to see Faye back in against Southend and Quinn, Boyd, and Meyler starting with Thudd out and Figueroa and Koren dropped. Rossy was immense and my MOM. Can't count the number of saving clearances/headers he made at the back. Needs to play every week.

Jelavic other than his miss looked the real deal. Agressive, strong in the air, and making good runs into the box. Looking forward to seeing him out there with Long and Aluko.

Thought Jellys movement to make himself some space on his miss was promising though. Nowt flash but it's little things like that you get from a goal scorer.

Bennett's header was just like Smalling's against us: he pushed down on Rosenior to leverage his jump. Could have been a foul but we're far too soft and naiive all over the pitch.
