How does Shane Long come across as greedy on the scale of Morrison? I'm not going to fault a player for trying to do the best for themselves, but there are some that are just out for a pay check and don't care about playing.
I wouldn't just steer clear of Ravel Morrison, I'd do a rapid U-turn and keep driving until I saw a John O'Groats sign. He's big trouble, and leopards don't change their spots overnight.

I think we have to accept that footballers in this league get paid a hell of a lot. It's how they apply themselves after they sign their contract that matters, and there's absolutely nothing in Shane Long's career history that suggests any danger whatsoever of a Bullard-like meltdown.

No there is not and if the point is we'll get more from our £200k a month from Long than Bullard then obviously. But Long isn't that good a player really and certainly not worth anywhere near £50k a week. Think McLean got shown up to be the flash in the pan he was for his first few games. By all accounts, absolutely dire after his initial impact. I don't see where he'd fit in, or why we'd bother.
