I see your point but we're talking about a situation where an employee has actually handed in their resignation. In that situation you should really make some sort of plan for when (if) they leave, not just ignore it and assume the employee will change their mind.
I wouldn't recommend that you read this then... http://www.theguardian.com/football...herr-southampton-football-owner-german-markus It states that the last company she took over from Markus, where he'd saved 50 jobs in buying out the company, she made 31 redundant, and was accused of failing to set a new direction for the company. One employee was quoted as saying "With the death of the patron, the chicken has lost its head. For a while it continued wandering around without a sense of direction, then it bled to death." If true, it doesn't sound promising. I hope there are some businesses that she has been successful with, but it seems very little is known about her.
name someone who does, and I'll take the trouble to try and contact them and find out why? I'll then come back and spill the beans and we can all light a fire and dance around the flames.
oh Fran, stop letting some good facts get in the way of a good bitch and moan. We were just about to conquer Europe on the back of a take over from a bloke living in his mum's spare room when that Swiss/Italian fella rocked up in his flash suit and ruined everything.
He doesn't need to FLT, apparently it's EVERYONE. So take your pick. Maybe start with Pochettino? Shaw? Lovren?
Of course not. I have no idea what's going on. I'm simply saying that if Cortese actually resigned in October and has been serving his notice period then Katharina has had plenty of time to get the wheels in motion and line up a replacement. She may well have done that, although it doesn't appear that way at the moment.
There is no doubting the good Cortese has done for the club, but many seem to have blinkers on. How do we know that the decision is no 'What's best for the club'? The Adkins thing wasn't undeniably "if I make a change, results will improve". That was the intention but we see that in hindsight and Cortese made a tough decision that was proven right. It could all have gone tits up but it didn't. Everyone is very willing to take Cortese's decisions as being 'right for the club'. Could KL's decision not have been taken for the benefit of the club? This is all looking much like politics where each party (and its supporters) cannot see past their own policies. KL may disagree with how we move on from where we are now to the next level. She may think Cortese had taken as far as he could. She may well have done exactly as Cortese did to Adkins in January by forcing his hand. Cortese fan or not (I am a fan) we can't assume that Cortese was the only one who could take this club forward nor that his methods / plan were the only way to take us forward. We also don't know what is happening inside the club. There could be worries from more than just KL and the books may not be looking as good as they should. For all we know she may want to push us forward but in a different way without the massive investment that we currently have. We don't know at all but many are very quick to say that her decision to force Cortese's hand is not for the good of the club. TBH If anything I am disappointed that Cortese would only run the football club I love on his terms and was prepared to walk away so easily. Obviously I have more ties to the football club than he does but I did think he would have fought harder to remain involved. And I don't agree at all with MLT nor Illingsworth nor restripe. We wouldn't be where we are now without Cortese. He has performed miracles. I just think that his leaving doesn't necessarily slow us down nor restrict what the aim is. Just means we may use differing methods / strategies to achieve those aims. Maybe even a slower ascent will help us in the long run?
You don't know why he left tho do you? This is why I am hardly saying anything on the subject. We no **** all why he went and **** all why K Liebherr wanted more say. Until we do I won't be judging either. As for all the **** that will probably come out about Cortese. I don't really care about that either unless it's something trully bad. We are all humans at the end of the day.
I spoke to an old work colleague of mine who is now working as head of banqueting or similar (I don't know his exact job title) at saints. He sorts out all the food home and away for the players and goes on the coach with them to away games. He said that many people behind the scenes recognise how well Cortese did, but are happy he has gone. We all know he was ruthless and maybe leading by fear/power brought the best out of many individuals at the club, but maybe they will work even better without the Cortese fear factor.
Two plus two could definitely make five; but Sunderland have unexpectedly sacked their DoF today. Totally out of the blue........
Exactly - the decision made was still a risk, but the intention was obviously only to improve the side, even if it hadn't worked.
The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. My guess is you'll never hear from Nicola Cortese again. And like that ****** he's gone.
Have heard similar that people behind the scenes are showing a few more smiles now. We did once go through about 4 marketing head's in one year. That's really not normal. But on-field, I can have no complaints. Those who have worked with him, or for him, aren't entirely gushing with nothing but praise.
I see no difference in Cortese making a decision 'for the good of the football club' and KL doing the same. I doubt very much she would call his bluff at all if she thought it would harm the club. People are just accepting anything Cortese decided as being for the good of the club and deciding that KL's decision wasn't. Like Beefy above I will reserve judgement on KL.
