Bardsley declares interest in QPR role 16/01/2014 By David McIntyre Former QPR star David Bardsley has declared his interest in succeeding Marc Bircham at the club. please log in to view this image David Bardsley playing for QPR Bircham this week left the position of development-squad coach to link up with former Rangers man Ian Holloway at Millwall. And Bardsley, who now lives in Florida where he runs his own academy for young players, says he would relocate back to the UK if offered a role at Loftus Road. He said: “I’d be interested, definitely. QPR is my passion and I’ve always said the only reason I’d move back to England would be for them. “I’ve been working for many years in Florida now, coaching kids and trying to spread the name of QPR using my own programme. “If the chance came to go back there and do the same but at the club itself, of course I’d want to. “It would follow on from what I’ve been doing here. Anything you do in life you should believe in and feel passionate about. “I’m certainly passionate about the club and am QPR through and through, as are my kids. It would be more than a job to me.” Bardsley, now 49, made more than 300 appearances for QPR during a nine-year spell in which he won two England caps. Orlando FC QPR Academy USA was set up by him in 2006. It has no formal ties to his ex-club but is inspired by it – players at all levels of the academy wear Rangers kits. “I’ve been looking at a few MLS opportunities over here but if Rangers called, I’d be there,” Bardsley added. “I’ve still got an agent in England and I think they’ll make contact with the club and see what the situation is. I don’t know what their plans are. “Marc Bircham has done a great job and with the ambitions of the owners it’ll be a good opportunity for someone, that’s for sure.” http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/bardsley-declares-interest-in-qpr-role84732
Agreed. You won't find many ex-QPR players more passionate about the club than Bardsley. He really engages with QPR fans on Twitter too.
If Bardsley were to get stewardship over the EDS instead of Steve Gallen, I think Steve would leave the club. He's waited his turn, and wants to step up. Give Steve the Job, let Bardsley replace him as U18s coach.
Gallen to replace Bircham, Bardsley to replace Gallen, and Gallen (K, who occasionally wears a magic hat,) to assist Bardsley...?
Gallen to replace Bircham, Bardsley to replace Gallen, and Gallen (K, who occasionally wears a magic hat,) to assist Bardsley...? that gallen( k) he s such a lovely chap
Get him in, whatever the role. His passion for QPR would be fantastic for the youngsters, especially those who dream of playing for Manure or Scum using QPR as a springboard.
if there was any sense anywhere we would leave bardsley in America and work with him and his academy or just ignore him like we have been doing
Bring him home, ASAP. The club should employ as many former R's as possible. There has to be people in the right places that knows the club and what we're all about. No one has done this more succesfully than Bayern Munich, and it wasn't a given at the time that they would be as massive as they are now.
Exactly the type of person we need in & around our club..... Get him involved, but use his academy as a source for us......?
How many first team regulars (or even fringes) players has Bardsley's outfit produced, for MLS teams or others? If the total is similar to Bircham's record (loaners to lower league teams only), I'd suggest we look elsewhere, no matter how well he regards the club and how fondly we remember him. Anyone got the stats?
I read somewhere that he has tried on several occasions to offer players from his academy to QPR but he has never heard back.
