It's up there with repeating "during the war", "you plonker Rodney" "on our dear mum's deathbed" and "alright Dave" every single f**king episode.
It's not really of any relevance to my point but do you mean comedies? If so I appreciate groundbreaking work such as Spaced, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Office. The latter is for me the best tv programme, comedy or otherwise, ever made. Cue criticism of what I like but it's really of no relevance whatsoever to me thinking OF&H is awful. Erm no, I just saw it. I don't read every post on every thread.
But what I like is of no relevance. I asked a question at the start of my point, I didnt say to everyone "go on then, tell me what you like" and then say they were wrong. Opinions innit?
I'm the same. Can't watch a minute of sienfeld but curb has me in stitches. RIP Roger. A few saying 'RIP Dave' - has Nick Lyndhurst died too?
OFaH did lose its way when they made the comeback (having Money and partners caused that IMO) , but from the first episode until the "miami twice" double - they were amongst the best written shows on telly . Only One Foot in the Grave and Blackadder was as consistent when looking at TV shows , let alone sit-coms that ran for more than 2 series .
I thought the 2nd episode of Miami Twice was pretty average. It was just him pretending to be the Godfather. The first one was good- Del getting the reverend to bless a truck load of wine from Romania, and it turning out to be white wine.
I can't get into CYE, but I liked Seinfeld so there's definitely major differences despite the shared writer. I'd have thought with you liking Spaced that Seinfeld was the more likely one for you to like as the weirdness is there (at least with Kramer). Office I didn't like when I saw it, but I was told parts of it are better for having worked in an office and experienced some of the things it pokes fun at, so I'm giving it another shot now. I think it was during Goodnight Sweetheart rather than after. As daft as it sounds given the whole premise of the programme, it just got a bit too unrealistic towards the end when they started getting desperate for storylines.
