OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Cortese leaves Southampton

I don't think other teams do do it, otherwise they wouldn't have even brought it up in the media. They'd easily be able to find out whether it was common practice or not at other Premiership teams.

Does anyone know how old she is? No reason in particular, just curious. Late 30s, early 40s?

 

Looks early 30s to me, but then I'm terrible with ages.

Nothing too bad? why would there be? He is a Saints fan like the rest of us, and despite their personal dispute, he knew that Cortese did a good job at Saints.

 

Huge relief at MP's statement, not only for what he said, but also in the way he said it. Reading between the lines, it seems to me that Poch stays with Nicola's blessing (encouragement?) which might be a pointer to NC returning to the club as head of a consortium at some stage (as lots of others have suggested). I sincerely hope that this steadies the ship & that we don't lose any players this month - esp Luke Adam & Rickie. I would like to hear/see a statement from Ms Liebherr outlining what she sees as the future for SFC & specifically, whether or not she's still keen to sell. I don't have a problem with her selling the club - it's her right as owner, I just hope we don't get owners who behave like Blackburn/Cardiff/Hull etc. After the shock of yesterday, it's been a better day today .... 3 points on Saturday would do nicely ....

According to a guy on SaintsWeb he will be back with Dalian Wanda. The guy even says he doesn't want Cortese back but can see it happening. Also says Dalian Wanda brought Cortese a boat.

Given that he apparently thought Dalian Wanda to be a person, I'd file that away as 'potentially dubious'. Still, the connection makes a bit of sense...it's a conglomerate with naming rights to the Chinese Super League, a subsidiary sponsors Saints, and they've been trying to create a profile in the West. Plus, Bovril certainly doesn't talk nonsense (though people might talk nonsense to Bovril).

Some sources claim that Cortese handed in his resignation in the Autumn. It would have been 3 years since Markus' passing, I wonder whether any plans he'd left for Southampton had covered a period of 3 years, allowing Katharina to now step in if she so wished.
