I don't consider he has a connection with Hull City. People were born in Hull and lived in Hull all their lives and have no connection with City. The fact people in Hull were daft enough to keep voting him in doesn't make his opinions on what Hull City is called worth anything.
Well, you're now making two different points. Whatever you think of him, his 40 year tenure as an MP makes his connection with Hull extremely valid by any measure. Agreed on the football front. Moving on...
That must be Bull**** how old is Prescott? (about 72?) In the 50's , he would never have heard of Hull, he comes from Liverpool they've never heard of anywhere else but Liverpool. He was a merchant seaman when he left school. Do they play football at sea? If so I could be wrong
He failed his 11 plus for Rotherham Grammar in 1949 and moved to Cheshire shortly afterwards. No guarantee he went to Rotherham matches though.
Charles, he was born in Wales and until the move to Rotherham stayed in Wales - he's not from Liverpool!
Well there you go, his sort of Liverpool accent and his sailing days tales convinced me he was from Liverpool. I can't see him ever watching City when Carter was playing tho'.I think His age and locations don't meet up.
Actually you were making two points. His 40 years tenure as an MP gives him no connection with Hull City.
Nobody cares about him. His argument is completely flawed and invalid anyway. As we ALL keep saying, until there's solid evidence that changing our name to "Hull Tigers" will actually be financially beneficial to the Club, the "he needs to make money so he should be able to change it" argument is just nonsense. He's talking out of his arse. He knows as much about football as Allam does.
Surely there can be no one who takes John Prescott's opinions on anything seriously? He's a bungler, a liar, a cheat, an adulterer and obese ex Labour politician. I don't know if the timing of his comments is deliberate but they are worthless, and AA's 100K donation/bribe to Milliband (causing him to lie to avoid a prior non lucrative Saturday party engagement) may well be 'influencing' him. AA's money buys a lot of lobbying power in this city (as well as doing some good) and those who have benefitted are expected to 'remember' that . (Hull University and Hull Children's Universities being cases in point.) Recently Mandelson suggested that the British people couldn't be trusted with an EU referendum. One of the main reasons he said this was because, like all MEPs, he swore an oath of allegiance to its institutions- and they have massive pensions. Money DOES talk.
There isn't a block on name-change threads, just an attempt to stop people posting a new thread every time a new article is published, they can always be merged once everyone has had their say. If something new happens, it still warrants a new thread, the main one is already 45 pages and people can be arsed to trawl through it.
Just watched his interview on Calender. What a twat. He babbled on about City playing against Rotherham with Raich Carter "leading us" and we planted a model tiger on the field so it's always been "tigers". No mention of it being a nickname though... His justification, as all the pro-name changers say, is because, "we're playing Premier League football because of Allam. He should be allowed to do what he wants because he saved us." Bollocks.
Bulimic as well apparantly. There's a difference between eating and then making yourself sick, and eating so much all the time that you just happen to be sick. Why is the fat ****er going around the media, in his adopted home town, pissing everyone off with ill-informed ****e? Do one.
When Allam gave £100k to Labour Party didn't he say he'd give a similar amount to the Conservative Party. If so, did that actually happen? Seems odd I know but I thought that was his idea. While I'm on can someone offer him advice on how to run his business. Let me know how you got on.
