Have to admit I'd take De Jong over Cisse.
    No future ACON issues either.

News this morning that a Papiss Cisse transfer could be on the cards, as part of a deal that would see Borussia Monchengladbach’s Luuk De Jong heading to Tyneside.

Discussions are said to be ongoing and the move(s) could be made permanent straight away, or initially on a loan basis.

The Northern Echo also report that Joe Kinnear is expected shortly in Germany to try and conclude a deal.

If ever there were two strikers who needed fresh impetus it is De Jong and Cisse, both finding themselves frozen out.

The Dutch striker has only managed a paltry 72 minutes in the Bundesliga this season and hasn’t started a single match, Cisse has fared little better.

With 37 goals in only 65 league appearances for Freiburg, it is little wonder that a German club will still see plenty of potential in Cisse bouncing back to goalscoring form with a change of scenery.

Alan Pardew seems to have lost faith in Cisse and at best doesn’t see where there is a place for him in the current set up.

Some kind of swap deal would undoubtedly appeal to Mike Ashley with little change in the wage bill or in terms of a transfer fee, if any.

Would be good, but almost too good to be true.

Why do they keep building up my hopes? First Obertan out, now de Jong in a swap for Cisse. These rumours are really going to hurt when they don't come off.

I would prefer Cisse to go abroad cos he will come good.

De Jong never seen him play so cannot comment.

If I was Ashley I would ban anyone who reports total lies like what we see especially if they could unsettle the player like Cabaye, Krul Santon etc

Would probably suit Ashley as no money is involved.

A swap with a foreign club is always ideal in my view. Avoids the inevitable anguish of ex-players coming back to haunt us by scoring - at least until their next move.

Oh but Ashley and Joke will still tell us in glorious detail about how a 'swap' deal still cost £45squillion due to agent fees, etc. So the annual transfer budget has been blown by moving on Cisse.

De Jong for Cisse would be an excellent move for us.

Swap deals don't really happen now. Is Cole/Gillespie the last 1 we had?

imo swap loan is best for all involved. I have a nasty feeling Cissé will start freescoring in the Bundesliga the moment he arrives.

And De Jong won't make it into the team ahead of Shola <wah>

Still, anything's better than having Cisse as an option on the bench. At present it's like trying to be the wing-man of the ugliest mate on Earth... You get it all set up nicely, call him over, and the girl takes one look at the drool running down his face, the extra toes bulging from his forehead, his tan from the "South of France" and his "I know some of the 200 richest people on Earth... honest" t-shirt, and runs away...
