I have more chance of getting it on with Katy Perry than your CUE CARD has of winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup. For all our sakes man, please please please let him saunter home in the Ryanair! Best regards Just about every punter in the country
No, we need a pacemaker in the Gold Cup to make it a slog for Bobs Worth. Tizzard, stick to the farming and ignore the stick.
Not only if he runs in the Ryanair he will make a lot of rich punters. The Purse he will get will be alot more. In the GC I see him best getting 3rd which will give him c£60K where as winning the Ryanair will give him more than double the prize money its simples which one to go for!!
Not a simple decision at all. He's already won twice at the festival. Maybe the owners put more emphasis on trying to win the CGC instead of the Ryanair. No shame in that. I agree with them if I was in their position - won a fortune with the horse and multiple Festival winner.
Dear Mr Stick Cue Card has more chance of bedding the lovely Katy than you. We asked the horse which race he wanted to win, he asked what was the Cup size, we told him it was a forty four double D, and the die was cast. Please stick to sticking and leave the farming of races to me! Regards Tizz I, the master trainer
LMAO Reebs........and btw.....the lovely Katy is sure to know that CUE CARD is a gelding ;-) I see your point Bob and its very valid but the simple fact is that he simply will not see out the trip and repel the likes of BOBS WORTH and SILVINIANCO CONTI.
Slightly off topic, but did you know that castration is not a bar to getting and maintaining an erection? Before anyone asks - no it's not knowledge gained personally!
I really can not understand why anyone would want to see Cue Card in the Ryanair rather than the CGC. Such a policy, is to me, Unambituos with a huge capital ‘U’ and surely the horse deserves a crack at the big ‘un rather than a race which has no history and no kudos whatsoever. Also, in my view, it has no place at the Festival either as all the Ryanair does, like a few other recent additions, is too dilute the product of the Festival and rob people of witnessing real contests. Cue Card earlier in the term stayed 25 furlongs on soft ground, at Haydock Park, no problems whilst on breeding the trip at Cheltenham should be no probs as his dam won over 3 miles and even ran in the old Grand National. I’m not going to say he will or will not stay, as I don’t think anyone can say such a thing with 100% certainty until its attempted at Cheltenham, but to rob him of the opportunity to race in the CGC is in my opinion baffling and could turn Cue Card into the Quevega of steeplechasing – namely a horse who goes for the easy option rather than a race that could propel the beast to mega-stardom and show the world what they are really capable of in one of the races of the whole term. Also, how do people know if after last years Ryanair connections of Cue Card weren’t left with the sense of ‘what might have been’??? His romp in that heat must have let connections to ponder what would have happened had he run in the 2013 CGC in similar form. Maybe, they don’t want to be left with similar feelings in 2014 should he win the Ryanair in an effortless manner. Finally, re ante-post punting, people, please don’t fall into the age old trap of backing horses in races you think they should run in. All that counts is the races that connections will actually run them in.
That ruins the whole scene in Mel Brooks' film "The History Of The World Part 1" where they attempt to find out which bloke is the "non-Eunach" by having a woman dance in front of them all and seeing whose feather dress starts to point upwards Brilliant film that - must watch it again soon. "Count de Monet"
Sometimes you have to dream. They've won a Ryanair and anyone who thinks its money motivated is mental. Personally I hope they go GC as it makes it a much better spectacle.
Watching Cue Card jump impeccably at Kempton had me thinking here is the Gold Cup winner; but when he folded I thought the same as stick (ie if he can't last 3 miles at Kempton he has no chance of lasting up the hill in the Gold Cup). However my thoughts go back to the brilliant Pendil. He didn't stay beyond 3 miles but his impeccable jumping had all the opposition beaten coming to the last. Then the "unthinkable" happened. The Dickler gradually wore down the tiring Pendil to win in a photo. Maybe connections feel his jumping will find out some of the opposition and he will at least place in the world's most prestigious (non handicap) steeplechase.
What perplexes me though is his Haydock run - a furlong further than Kempton and he got home very well that race. I think if they drop him in he could get the trip - doing all the donkey work at the front costs a lot of energy.
I agree with Sir Barney here..... He's already won the Ryanair and he did stay at Haydock Park over 3 miles on soft ground. He did nt get home at Kempton but then again the conditions were pretty desperate. I wouldnt be having Cue Card in the Gold cup if it came up soft of worse... but good or good to soft I think he has a real chance. It could be a race for those horses that people are uncertain to stay. I actually think Al Ferof has a real chance (entry dependant) providing its no worse than good to soft. He absolutely loves Cheltenham this horse and got home at Kempton despite jumping out to the left on occasion... He probably travelled near 3 miles 2 furlongs at Kempton with his jumping.... previous festival form too ..
When Cue Card "didn't get home" in the King George ... did he finish last, or was he 2nd. He should absolutely go for the CGC.
