He was in 53 squadron which was Fighter Command then Coastal Command in the Battle of Britain. Then a spell of pilot training before volunteering to go to Gibraltar to fly in 202 squadron(Mediterranean Campaign). This was a Swordfish Torpedo Bomber squadron and he was lost in 1942 over the Med a couple of months before I was born. When my mum died in South Africa in 1967 all his medals, citations etc I buried with her.
Have had much problem posting on these boards these last couple of days so Many Happy returns Roger and welcome to the club - hope you got one of these (with your name on it not mine). Have a really nice day old friend. please log in to view this image
Welcome to the 75 Club CT. Also just a thought brought on by the thread above. How many of ex pat supporters have season tickets although like me can only get to one or two games a season if I am lucky?
I don't have one but my two sons and three grandsons (all of whom reside in Hull) have all got season tickets.
Last time CT was at a Hull City game I bought him and his charming wife tickets to sit in the east stand with me, happy birthday Roger mate and many more
Hi Yardley! We have bought 2 since 2000 for the couple who have just had the baby on CT's birthday. We have never been to the KC for a Hull City match but hope to rectify this when we go to Hull next January. Maybe you will be there too?
Hi Mrs. BMB and other half. Hope to be there March 15th versus Man City. An auspicious day all round! (75 + 1).
So sorry that you never even got to see your Dad Mrs BMB. I was five when mine was shot down over Germany but have only fragmentary memories of him due to him being away on duty from 1940-44. But they stay forever young as we grow old.
Thanks Laurie old pal. Haven't seen you on here for a while although I've seen you sneaking up on the Canadians in the Prediction League!!! Nice shirt...I should get one like that . Hope you and the Child Bride are doing ok. My ticker seems to have recovered pretty well after the op...fingers crossed. Take care mate!!
Thanks John...and of course for the tickets. My travel plans have been put on hold recently but hope to have another reunion back at the KC next September. Next time it will be against one of the big boys rather than the likes of Brighton.
Thanks Yardley. I'm in good company. I like the sound of the 75 Club!! I don't have season tickets but thanks to the expanded EPL coverage over here I do get to just about every game on the big screen. Unfortunately they are all on at 7 am or earlier, but worth while getting up early to see us back in the big time and playing so well.
It could have another member on 1 August this year - just don't question his business sense at the social evenings!
It is. Sorry for mentioning him in what is a celebratory thread, but the talk of a 75 club got me thinking!
My problem too. Managed the last 4 home games last season ( that Cardiff game was so tense...who says we don't like Leeds (suppose it didn't matter in the end but...))...I manage about 2 games per season also. sometimes none.....but I'd never relinquish the season pass. My sister (still lives there, in Haltemprice) thinks I'm nuts spending around 300 to 400 quid per "live" game I get to, but what the ......still see everygame either live on TV here in Canada or delayed on TigerPlayer. If anyone's visiting from afar, and I'm not there myself, let me know & I'll donate my seat for the day. I passed it on to Burnsey (R.Hmberside) one season to give it out to kids or those having a hard time affording the price of entry, but now it's a senior's pass, it's harder to get takers.
Your wish is my command! I will start a membership group for all posters 75 and over and maybe charles stokell will want an 80 Club too as he is the Foundation member.
