Walking through Hornimans park this morning, it was in perfect condition. I think we should play our home games there. If only because of the convenience for me
The topic on every fans lips the valley pitch. My take on it is...yes it's bad but the only reason the ref called it off on Saturday is footballers are too precious these days. It was no worse than when we played Brighton or Wednesday yes Brighton winged afterwards about it they would wouldn't they they lost. It's the same for both teams back in the day of proper football when you were allowed to tackle and players Wern't so nanny pamby games were hardly ever off they just got on with it. The more mud the more fun...dangerous,dangerous my arse it's rubbish. The fact that Danny Wilson and CP agreed with the decision just says it all about the modern player. Yes the pitch needs work on the drainage BUT it can't be done immediately so we should just get on with it. The only danger to the players is to muddy their pristine shirts. It's a mans game, or used to be. Just another of the many reasons why football today sucks , just glad we ain't in the premier league.
Well doesnt look like Diego Poyet will be involved... Has written on twitter that he's out for his other half's birthday tonight
The u21s had a long trip and a hard game in bad weather at Swansea last night (drew 1-1, Smith) so you can rule out any of this lot. I would guess even for the bench, too. Phillips; Muldoon, Fox, Gomez, Lennon; Daniel (Azeez 75), Jordan, Poyet, Holmes-Dennis (Munns 55); Sho-Silva, Smith. Note that Pigott and Harriott were not included so we may see them play a part tonight, as well as Cousins.
Evening all Charlton: Hamer, Wilson, Wiggins, Wood, Morrison, Cousins, Jackson, Pritchard, Church, Kermorgant, Cook. Subs: Pope, Hughes, Evina, Dervite, Green, Harriott, Pigott Oxford United: Clarke, Newey, Raynes, Wright (c), Rigg, Constable, Hunt, Davies, Mullins, Marsh, Ruffels Subs: Kitson, Smalley, Williams, Rose, Long, Bevans, O'Dowda Quite a strong line-up it seems - let's see if Pritchard and Cook can show they deserve to figure in the team more. COYA!
Powell must definitely think the side can go on a cup run this season as well as getting Huddersfield in the 4th Round... He's always going on about how he'd like one
Glad I never bothered going now, was quite hopeful when I saw the lineup, up still plenty of time for the rain to come
So, twenty minutes into a home game with ....Oxford, we are hoping for rain. CP, remember the fate of your predecesor.
Rigg hits one over the bar after being set up by Constable. Charlton really need to police him better... Sorry.
I'm in the midlands and it's been hosing it down for the last two hours. I'm in the hotel car park blowing as hard as I can to get the rain down south so we can get this abandoned.
