    I think Hobbs has signed a pre-contract with them, so no, they didn't pay the price. :(

    An English club can't sign a pre-contract with a player from another English club until one month from the end of his contract.

    Noticed Brucey had mentioned his knee being a reason we didn't offer him a deal. And farming him out to see how he fared on it.

    Shows the club are much more risk averse after the JB fiasco. And explains the Austin caution. Seems we are playing a straight bat a bit. That said we have meyler on a contract after surgery. I guess it was just bad timing for Hobbs though I reckon his poor distribution played a part

    You can only have precontracts between foreign clubs this far away from when his contract with us ends.

    Shame to see Hobbs go cause he was always solid for us but if hes not in Bruces plans then no need in keeping him when we have sufficient cover at CB.

    Bruce and McShane have made the step up and Hobbs was better than either of them last season so I see no reason why he couldn't have made it. I'm sure he left simply because he knew he wouldn't be guaranteed games and wanted to play every week.
