To be honest this is a nothing game ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I will go for a 2-1 Defeat We have bigger fish to fry at Millwall on Saturday!
Mick has already said that he will be resting some of our key players as the Millwall game is far more important in the context of our season! I just pity the poor Townies who will be travelling up to the North West tonight! I guess Fieldmarshall will be amongst them!
not overly fussed should we lose tonight. but i don't like to lose so i'm thinking a narrow 1-2 also. but league right now is far more important so lets give others a chance to shine tonight and give those hardy souls going something to cheer.
Surely if the majority of memebers here think that a mid table finish is good enough, and is what we'll achieve, then shouldn't tonights game be more important? A cup run does wonders for the confidence, the fans are in good spirit, and we also get a few extra quid. Both Preston and Forest away should be games that we can win, which means we will only be two games from a Wembley appearance. I don't get how any true Town fan can not be interested in this game, and even worse in wanting us to lose. To me, this is far bigger than Millwall on saturday. We will not get in the play offs, and we are probably too far ahead to get relegated, so, if we want to achieve something this season, the FA cup is probably our last chance. I've been a town fan for nigh on 37 years, and i've never, nor will ever, want us to lose a game, especially in the FA cup. That said, unfortunately i think we will lose 3-1 after extra time, purely because we simply arent good enough.
Stretchy I would agree with you BUT while we are still in with a good chance of making the Top 6 and bearing in mind our threadbare squad, we do not need extra games getting in the way! Its not as if we stand any hope of winning the Cup and if we pick up any serious injuries tonight then we will be fcuked!
Im giving this one a miss jonny, as much as i love the FA Cup If your clubs heart isnt in it and what i mean by that is they are resting players for the coming league match, then i wont make the effort either. Its a hell of a long way to go to watch a match that ITFC dont appear to be overly interested in, i know it makes perfect sense to rest players when youve got bigger fish to fry but the club has to do its bit to inspire Townies to make the trip. I think the next away match for us is Barnsley, its a ground i love going to and theyve got the best Balti pies in the league.
Do you think Wigan had the same attitude last season? This is the FA Cup FFS - arguably the greatest club cup competition in the world, and we are playing a team from a division below us.
You're top bloke FM! I wish I could show the same level of commitment as you to the cause! I love going up to the grounds in South Yorkshire and I will be going to the Barnsley game. They are brilliant friendly people!
..yeah, had the greatest day in their short history - and are now in FA Cup history as being FA cup winners. A clubs ultimate prize should be all about winning and winning trophies, be at the FA cup, champions league or anglo-italian cup. As Big Al says...winning the trophies and the day out at Wembley will live in our memories a lot more than the years making up the numbers in the premiership.
Bigal, they were talking about this on the radio regarding West ham, spot on, I agree, very fond memories of 78 & 81, could not name the years we went down.
3-0 Town Hunt, Taylor and Ando. I want us to win this match and go further in the cup. As stretchy says, we may not make the play offs this year and although we are making a lot of changes to the team the players coming in need to play games so that they are more useful to us for the remainder of the season. It is a chance for some to shine and others to rest.
Stretchy all I am saying is that realistically we don't stand much chance of getting to the 6th round let alone win the bloody thing! The team have worked really hard this year to give us a shout of making the top 6 at the business end of the season and I would rather have the excitement of the Play offs and a trip to Wembley for the play off final!
You have to say that in years to come... they will be looking back at their 'big day' with very fond memories and that is not something that could be replaced by finishing 15th in the Premier League.. I mean, not getting relegated is not something to celebrate anniversaries of... and to get the open top bus out for A cup final win is.. and something I'm sure Wigan fan's wouldn't swap for anything
