According to today's Sun on Sunday Cisse is off to Qatar this month. Negotiations have been going on a while and only fee to be agreed on with Newcastle wanting their £9 million back. On this years form won't be a big miss and hopefully a more busier, target man will be brought in. On a different note, did you know Remy has been caught offside more than any other PL player this season.
According to the Chronicle we have turned down a bid of £9million. Me thinks not. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-turn-down-bid-6498790
Only because he has started more games than Shola and Cisse, who would otherwise top the offside chart.
Agreed - not believable at all. Ashley would never turn down a good offer for anyone or anything. And £9mil for a striker who's been out of form for 18 long months is laughably good.
Cisse hasn't been the same player since Ba left. Let's just hope that we get somebody decent in to replace him if he does go.
Snap their hands off Ashley you know it`s good business but then knowing you there would not be a replacement.
If we get anything close to £9m we should take it. With players like Long bring touted for around £6m we could do some good business with the money from Cisse. So long as we don't leave it to the last minute, sell him and then say we ran out time to get somebody over the line. Pity, as he really looked like he'd set the place on fire when he arrived, but just doesn't seem to have settled into the Prem.
If he sells Cisse there is no guarantee Ashley will bring in a replacement this season. If we manage to pick up a win out of the Norwich and West Ham games it will all but confirm our safety in the Premiership. Why would he then bother spending money in January?
We would snap anyones hands off for that. This is press bollocks. The evening chronicle don't even speak to NUFC anymore.
As much as today's game was a hard luck story it did underline two things... Firstly that we are so much better when we get after teams than we are when sitting off. Well at least at home. Anita, Tiote and Cabaye bossed the midfield today, City didn't have a moments peace and today showed the error of our ways when we played Arsenal. Away from home I think a more considered approach is needed and we've done well using such a system but at home I much prefer the "in their faces" approach. Secondly it showed how badly we need a striker. Remy is off form at the moment and put simply the rest don't cut it. If someone is offering 9m for Cisse he should be gone. Luuk De Jong is a big, powerful striker and is a very clinical finisher. He's a more technical (but less powerful) version of Carroll and is tailor made for us. His signing would really help us kick on in the second half of the season as another defeat at West Ham and all of a sudden we are in a rut.
I don't think he was quite the same in the run up to Ba leaving. I remember thinking that once Ba had gone that would be the time when Cisse would come into his own. Unfortunately, still waiting ... Don't really want him to go but at the same time he has had many games to come good and for whatever reason it's just not happening.
Also you just know that Cisse will privately reckon his poor form and troubles are down to agreeing to wear that Wonga kit. It'll be religious karma to him and just amplify the problem. He's not been right since that nonsense so let him chase the $$'s in Qatar instead. Oh Jason Lee... Yes, he was a find wasn't he? I had a good mate at school around that time who was a Forest fan. I seem to remember he had a Jason Lee Match poster pasted to his homework diary while mine was covered with Paul Kitson. Even then I'm pretty sure it was an ironic act of subtext to spell out how much contempt we had for homework!
