As long as you kept your hard tackle for the pitch I'm sure there was no problem. I doubt the concern would've been whether one of their teammates would attempt to insert their erect member into their anal cavity in front of a dozen other geezers, Matty mate. More likely it would be a kind of awkward embarrassment at not knowing how to treat the guy and what could and couldn't be said around him in terms of banter etc. The modern youngster is a lot more evolved than I think you give them credit for old boy. P.S. Who the fu*k is Thomas Hitzlsperger?
Swords. Being gay is a part of life. I respect you if you're not, I respect you if you are. Matters not. But everyone knows someone who is gay. Sport is full of all 'classifications' of sexuality. That's fantastic.
Indeed, my good friend. I would go one step further and say get rid of classifications altogether because gay, straight etc are just labels we use in our heads in order to make some sort of sense of things. There is no human being 100% gay and no human being 100% straight. Never has been and never will be. Quite simply, some folk prefer a bit of cock and others prefer a bit of muff. Nothing more to it than that really. Save your artillery for when Shefford arrives mate. I reckon you're gonna need it!
I don't, the closest I know was an ex who had slept with women, that was before I met her. I played for 4 teams, thats about 60 70 players so the odds are 1 or 2 were gay and the only thing that would annoy me is if they kept on making a big deal out of it. Its similar to religion, I've never known a religion of a friend because I don't give a crap. Swords has some repressed feelings about gays so its best to ignore him.
We're talking about an individual's fear about the irrational fear (homophobia) in a pack mentality. Especially considering footballer's are, rightly or wrongly, considered at the shallow end of the evolutionary gene pool. Youngsters are more tolerant I feel but only when exposed to different cultures, sexualities, genders, religions etc. Football is a fairly sheltered, secluded world IMO and that's the cause of the problem about the perceived reception that someone who is different would get. If it were not so then everyone could already freely admit who they are but sadly this isn't yet the case.
Pretty strong visuals Swords? I suspect this discussion, already on a downward spiral, like others (e.g. Mandela tribute), is once again going to end up in a bad place, especially if Shefford gets involved?
just copied this from the BBC website please log in to view this image German football rallies around Thomas Hitzlsperger after the former international midfielder revealed he was gay. Does that mean he has got over it now ?
While we are appluding Thomas Hitzlsperger coming out after his career has now finished, how many of us fans have seen or gone to see a match against Brighton? There is always chanting going on along the lines of "Does you boyfriend know you here". Personally, I can see it being a few more years before we do see premier league player coming out during his career because of the comments from fans. I remember a few years a go see cantona karate kick a fan at Palace over comments said. Whilst my opinion may seem out of date, unless a player from a top 4 team comes out, I cannot see anything changing and still think we are a long way off it happening. Don't want to sound a glass half full sort of bloke, just my own humbke opinion for what its worth
I am going to the Brighton away game. I don't know this chant or the tune, if there is one. If we win, I'll be sucking anything liquid. Get your head round that!
