McGregor - Fantastic save from Oscar Elmo - Gave Cole a hard time...strong on headers too Davies - Reliable as ever, great block in 2H Figueroa was poor again, we need a better LB/LW out there Chester got skinned too many times in 2H
McGregor Davies Thudd Maynor a shadow of his former self. Needs competition to avoid complacency. Livermore didn't have his best game today - was actually surprised to see him listed so much above. I must have seen a different game. Sagbo needs to start playing as a striker, not as a box to box midfielder. He's closer to the half way line than the oppositions box most times. Most frustrating.
How anybody can think Sagbo was one of the best 3 players on the pitch today is beyond me! Its all about opinions but he contributed very little today. Chester has been off his usual game for a few matches now, and got found out today big time. Onwards and upwards.
watched on BT sports at a mate's 1. McGregor - quality saves, Hazard's strike was perfect, he had no chance 2. Elmo - excellent standard of crossing, much better than earlier on this season 3. Boyd -on his 1st half display really, we were outclassed second half Chelsea deserved the 2-0 we need this striker/s
Chester just got torn a new one by a fantastic world class player. He just needs a bit of time playing against these talents and learning a bit more about their tricks and stuff before he'll get used to playing against them.
To be fair to Chester he was isolated a couple of times v Hazard - any defender will struggle in that situation.
Elmo Mac Bruce. The second half of the season is going to get a lot tougher. Chelsea strangled the life out of us. Never got out of second gear. How fast is Hazard?? kinell. Chezzy needs to learn how to tackle, too many times he dangles a leg. Surely no one can give it to Hudd? FFS Tom Huddlestone against Willian in a 50/50 and he comes off second best!!!! Livermore against sideshow bob and Jake backs out and then fouls him!!! Spurs have a history of bottling it these two better realise they are in a relegation scrap and start winning those battles. Plus Meyler backed out of a few too.
I thought Sagbo was outstanding in the first half. Probably the best half he's had to date. He has really impressive ball control and retention skills, but just needs a bit more drive and direction. However, he was totally anonymous in the second half, like most of the players. The only thing he did wrong really was the absolute howler of a miss. Given that we were played off the park in the 2nd half and noone shone, I think its easy to he why he made some peoples top 3. McGregor Sagbo Livermore
McGregor Davies Elmo After a decent first half we were disappointing in the 2nd half though Chelsea's class showed. Anything we got from today would have been a bonus, let's see how we get on against Norwich and Palace.
McGregor Davies Elmo Huddlestone was good in the first half - some crunching tackles, decent distribution - but mostly disappeared in the second half and their players almost walked past him at times.
I agree with you regards Chezzy and i know your fan of Bruce, but how can you vote for him when he was clearly at fault for one of the goals, and i don't mean partially at fault but totally at fault. I disagree with Elmo to as theres no point beating Cole every time if you can't cross, but to be fair its hard to think of three. Also for those voting for Sagbo i get why but his job is to score goals, he's scored two this season and missed another great chance, i agree he can control and hold the ball up but when he is our only striker starting he needs to score goals, end of. Mac Davies Livermore - Mainly for the first half. You could tell we wasn't as good when Livermore tired and his performance dropped, you could tell his energy levels dropped which meant we had to sit deeper i would of brought Quinn on then. I struggled as i don't think anyone excelled at all today, not that thats a huge issue as you look at the Chelsea side and they had world class players. I felt for Chester, he was played at Rb really and had no help dealing with Hazard, you could tell Jose told Willian to move over and take advantage and double up on him.
Not that I'm a fan of Bruce, I would rather have had 4 at the back today and played Rosy RB. I dont see how he was at fault. Quinn and Koren fannyed about in midfield, lost the ball and it broke to Torres. He was one on one against AB. He showed him wide and wouldnt let him cut in on his right foot, making him go onto his left. The **** then hit a beauty with his left peg. Sometimes you just hold your hands up and say good goal. 50/50 Hudd v Willian. Willian wins GTF toughen up Tom. This is serious.
Agree with this... plus anyone else think Torres actually mis-times his kick and was trying to get it across goal rather than near post? could have easily sliced it. Too late by then anyways. Really disappointed in Koren and Figgy/Meyler are getting me worried.
Totally agree, outside of Messi or Ronaldo there aren't too many better players at running with the ball under close control and leaving much more expensive defenders in their wake than Hazard!
McGregor Livermore (first half) Boyd A bit similar to the game at Anfield last week in that we competed pretty well first half but seemed to run out of steam at the beginning of the second. I wonder if us trying to press hard all over the pitch from the off is taking it's toll on a lot of the players, then the energy levels aren't there to keep it going, the game gets stretched and it only takes a couple of lax moments to finish us off. It's a shame that we've acquitted ourselves so well against so many of the top sides and Liverpool at home aside, haven't got anything out of those games. I suppose on the positive side we haven't lost any of them by more than two goals (not counting Southampton). Figueroa has been poor for the last 4/5 games and really needs dropping, hopefully Brady will be back for Norwich or very soon after. I really don't get what people see in Sagbo, ignoring the miss, I can see he has some technical ability but beyond that I really can't see it. He doesn't seem to hardly get off the ground to jump for headers, doesn't seem to have a clue where he is on the pitch half the time, lazily hangs a leg out rather than moving to the ball and doesn't seem to try to get in behind or look for a ball over the top. I know he's often playing as a lone striker, which is a big ask of any player but he just doesn't offer anything in the role in my opinion. As for the suggestion that he's good at holding the ball up, he doesn't do it when it's played up to him with his back to goal either in the air or on the floor, the only time you see him do it is when the ball is played down the wing for him to run onto and then he turns back and holds onto it for a bit before playing it back to someone else. Huddletone didn't have his best game but I still saw him put in several crunching tackles and his touch and passing are a joy to watch. With Aluko and Brady to come back in as well as hopefully Jelavic and Long coming in, we should have a lot more attacking threat going forward and might just pick up a few more points against the top sides (especially at home) but certainly against those in the lower half of the table.
