The season starts today! And the only way is up! If Gus can keep us up AND get us to Wembley, give him the freedom of the city! What a turnaround to the season that would be!!!
Haha! When Gus took over I wanted to bet on us staying up but odds were no good so I bet on us to finish top 10. Had written this off..... until now!!
Southampton won't be so easy, but at least we have a wee break before the crunch Semi-final on Wednesday*. The form league and when was the last time we won 3 in a row? ...should see us in good spirits for Saturday's home fixture with a decent crowd. PPS: just want to say we forgive you to Cattermole for your NYD ****e, awesome today and deserves the plaudits along with Johnson who was even more ****ing awesome. * we also have the early Saturday game while Manure have the late Sunday away game at Chelsea.
Just enjoy tonight lads and worry about our game next week on Friday, I can't remember an unbeaten away run stretching to five games and with two easy ones to come at OT and Syd James' can we get it too seven, fingers crossed.
Six points between the last 11 and any one of them could go down On the other side of the Premiership sit Newcastle above 9th place Southampton who are six points above Hull in a split league and possibly there's another sub-league with Tottenham, Liverpool, Man Utd and Everton fighting to get into the top 4, with most of the unlikely to chase down the top 3. Our record against the 'other league' in all competitions; is won 6, draw 1, lost 5, if you translate that into points, it's 60+ ...and that's against just the top 9 teams, work that one out.
37 minutes ago Poyet content with Capital show. Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet admits the 4-1 over Fulham is up there as one of his best games since arriving on Wearside. He compared the result to the derby win and Cup successes and alsorevealed that hefeelsthe win could bea turning point for the Black Cats’ season: “I think this win could be the key game that sees the season change,” Poyet told SAFSee after the emphatic victory at Craven Cottage. “It’s difficult to compare this to other games. There’s been the Newcastle win, the Man City win, the Everton win and the Cup victories, but it is a very satisfying result. He continued: “It leaves a very good feeling and we’ve done it at the right time. We’ve been waiting a while for a result like this – and what a way to do it, away from home, against a rival who is close to us in the table.” The Uruguayan was quick to pay tribute to hat-trick hero Adam Johnson - the winger opened the scoring, as well as setting up Ki Sung-Yueng for Sunderland’s second goal in the first half, before sealing the victory with two goals in the second period. “Three goals from Adam Johnson, you cannot get much better, you know how expensive goals are!” Poyet explained. “A player like Adam needs to be played in the right way and we’ve been trying to make sure the team play in a way that suits him to make the difference. The last two or three weeks I think he’s been outstanding and if he can maintain this level and consistency he’s going to be a great help." The head coach concluded: “ We won today in a very good way, against a team lower in the league, something we have had trouble with this season. “We need to stay calm and maintain this consistency.” SAFC - Satisfying away day for Gus Poyet content with Capital show. safc.com
just ****in terrific. Best day for a long, long time. We looked great and played well. I had a feeling the stars were aligning today, all results went our way and i'm quite happy Cardiff lost as it drags them right into the ****, stops any Ole momentum esp with their upcoming fixtures. West ham had tomkins sent off and Dembele injured so equally a bit screwed with some tricky games due. As for the rest....we're coming to get ya
