This was our lineup on the first day of the season against the Toffees: Ruddy Whittaker - Martin - Turner - Garrido Johnson - Howson E.Bennett - Hoolahan - Redmond RvW Bench: Bunn, Olsson, R.Bennett, Butterfield, Fox, Tettey, Becchio Can't really say we're in a worse situation than that, eh?
Provisional squad has been announced: Ruddy, Whittaker, Martin, Bassong, Olsson, Johnson, Fer, Redmond, Snodgrass, Hoolahan, Hooper, Bunn, van Wolfswinkel, Josh Murphy, Jacob Murphy, R Bennett, Elmander, Garrido, Fox Becchio finally misses out, Jacob Murphy included. Reading through it, does that actually hint at a 4-2-3-1, Bennett dropped for Martin?
I put it on my favourites bar, I think I'll remove it! I'll see how it goes during the match first, but I'm not hopeful!
4-4-2 with the Wolf alongside Hooper! Ruddy; Whittaker, R Bennett, Bassong (c), Olsson; Snodgrass, Fer, Johnson, Garrido; Hooper, van Wolfswinkel. Bench: Bunn (GK), Martin, Hoolahan, Elmander, Redmond, Fox, Josh Murphy. Garrido presumably is actually at LB with Olsson LW? Surprised Redmond misses out, but it should help contain Coleman.
Norwich City FC ‏@NorwichCityFC 1m #NCFC subs v @Everton: Bunn (GK), Martin, Hoolahan, Elmander, Redmond, Fox, Josh Murphy.
A typical array of comments on the facebook page when the line up was announced - including Beefy (give 'em what for, bor! ) but this surely takes the biscuit ( I assume he's talking about Garrido? Or does he mean Wolfy?)
I think that's about right, DH. May be more of a 4-4-1-1 than 4-4-2 though and both wide players will need to track back to cover the threat from Baines and Coleman. For those wanting CH to 'go for it' seem to have got their wish today. Never thought it'd happen against Everton away! Can't wait for this one! OTBC!
I can only assume he sees this game as a probable loss and he wants to try out this formation to see if it might work at home to Hull and Newcastle. Whatever happens today, I'm not going to criticise CH. (Unless we go a goal up and he changes everything in the 20th minute and reverts to type.)
This is clearly an experiment but it could be a good one. Throw in Pilks and Howson when they return from injury for Javi and Bradley and I reckon that our strongest XI
I assume Garrido will be LW - giving us a defence against Coleman and allowing Olsson to overlap and be marauding in the attack. We may even see him taking free kicks!
