I am certain that I speak for all of us when I say that the capture of Kebe and Stewart is just superb, and should really help us to push on ... two wingers, the type of players we have been crying out for, just awesome!! The good thing about getting these lads in is that they give us a new dimension, and it should help us a lot. Here are some observations: 1) they are players who can be direct and run at defenders, something that always causes panic in defences ... beating the full-back not only sets up a crossing opportunity, but also commits another player to come out wide to help defend, thus creating more space for our midfielders to get into in the box, and the other wide man can ghost in at the far post to add an extra striker 2) we should see more crosses coming in, especially from the byline, allowing our players to run onto the ball rather than receiving it in attacking positions with their back to goal ... also means defenders are facing the wrong way, tough to defend effectively 3) 4-4-2 ... McD can play with two out and out strikers with creativity being mixed up through wide play and killer balls through the middle as the defence is stretched trying to cover the flanks 4) finally we have out-ball options ... with pace to burn we can clear the ball out wide, over the top, allowing the wingers to use their pace to transfer the pressure away from us and allow our defenders the chance to push out rather than be stuck deep with the ball coming back quickly at us 5) balls over the top ... pace means we can drop balls in behind defences for the speed-kings to run onto, and this will mean defences have to hold a deeper line to counter this, meaning their midfield also has to drop deeper, making us much less vulnerable to counter-attacks and also creating more space in midfield for us to build from These are just some thoughts as to how the two new wingers will help to transform our team, and I for one can't wait to see them playing at their best once they've had a few games and settled in. MOT
& there was I think Kebe would be a good RWB allowing Byram to play in midfield!! Heyho, let''s hope the new players gel quickly & Smith benefits from crosses that he either knocks in or creates chances for Ross and our CM to rush on to. Either way, hoofball or anything similar will be replaced by long balls out wide for Kebe and Stewart to run on to and then put crosses on Sith's head.
Lets hope it brings the best out of Byram again, like last season back in his position. Chuffed with this possible new direct style, that means ball on the floor unless its flying into the box from out wide for Smudger to hit and Ross to feed from. Smith may be on the bench because we could end up with a new strike partner for Ross before long, as BMcD is still trying
Kebe I agree with, but Stewart I'll reserve my judgement till after he's got a few games under his belt.
We should hopefully find out tomorrow either way, would hope to see both start. We've three wingers in theory with young gboly too, couldn't get over to harrogate to see how he fared over there but by all accounts him and poleon were all right in comparison to everyone else.
Welcome. I understand ur compared to everyone else comment. However Poleon was doing his usual running round like a headless chicken routine, and Gboly was doing the same but faster.
Faster is what we're aiming for but doesn't matter if it's in the wrong direction, without the ball or with no chance of getting the ball. Looked like a step in the right direction with Gboly but doesn't seem to be quite up to it at the moment, hoping he comes into his own eventually as his videos show signs of talent. Thanks for the welcome and what not I'll be around till may so hopefully get to know the locals by then.
haha if only, wouldn't mind been a few quid behind him but unfortunately the day job calls, work festivals and events may-sept and get to hibernate for winter.
more MOT than Rock 'n Roll, get's awkward come the end/start of the season when I can't get to games, pub or online as I'm stuck in a ****ing tent.
I am very happy with both of these signings. We are finally signing players for a purpose and not journeyman whom are here for their last pay cheque. It finally looks like we are building a team, the only thing holding us back is the said journeymen mentioned above whom we can't shift on because there so ****. If we had those spare wages now we could really be pushing for the autos.
