7 out of our remaining 9 home games are against teams presently above us in the league. 8 out of our remaining 9 away games are against teams presently below us in the league. Good or bad ?
Expect our home record to suffer and our away record to improve. Other than Palace, we've done well with our home games against the teams around us. Points in the bag so...good.
It is a weird trend we've had with our fixtures this season, we definitely got in the lucky half of the league when it came to Boxing Day and 28th December both being home games rather than away games. Is there always a team that has their fixtures pan out this way where all the hard away games are on one half of the season and vice versa. Possibly more importantly, is there anyone with the reverse fixtures that we should watch out for suddenly picking up points in their home games?
Sunderland's fixtures have been the opposite of ours. They have left to play at home: So'ton Stoke Us West Brom Palace West Ham Everton Cardiff Swansea but their away fixtures are horrendous. They probably need to win at least 6 may be 7 of their home games to stay up.
My view is it's got to be good - our season will not be defined by results against the top clubs so I view these as a "free hit" at home. The pressure will be on the clubs below us to get a result when we're in town which I think may well play into our hands playing 4 5 1 & catching them on the break.....
Both good. The teams in the top half won't come to the KC and shut up shop and if they're pushing for honours there might be more pressure on them than us (hopefully). We could keep the defence tight, frustrate them, then hit them on the break. Regarding the away games; I would rather play relegation threatened teams away. When a bad team has to attack it is most vulnerable.
