Today could turn out to be the best day Leeds fans have had for many years. First we complete the deal for Cameron Stewart and Jimmy Kebe is at TA having a medical. Then earlier I saw that we were also trying to highjack the move of Ashley Barnes from Brighton to Burnley. Brighton have accepted the offer but it now looks like Barnes is on his way to TA for a medical too.

Reading comments attributed to our manager, it would seem that the deals for Stewart is a 93 day loan and then we sign him on a 3-year deal for free. Barnes is also out of contract in the summer so a small fee to Brighton means a great option up front for us, but its the Jimmy kebe deal I have trouble understanding. Kebe was a firm fans favourite at Reading and BMcD spotted him in France and brought him over. Kebe loves our boss and wants to come to Leeds and if it heppens it will be brilliant. but please read the words of our manager. Are we being serious?

Brian McDermott has admitted in his press conference ahead of the game with Sheffield Wednesday this weekend that he is interested in Brighton and Hove Albion striker Ashley Barnes.

Leeds face tough competition if they are going to land the 24-year-old with reports suggesting he is on the brink of signing fellow championship side Burnley.

Barnes has been a regular for Brighton this season, making 24 appearances and scoring 6 goals.

"Having already signed Cameron Stewart today, McDermott also says the club are close to signing Crystal Palace winger Jimmy Kebe.

Kebe looks set to sign on loan for the remainder of the season with a view to a permanent deal in the summer if Leeds are promoted.

I hate it say it, but the way it looks, Leeds could be in the Premier League next season whilst we languish in the first division..

Don't suppose you could put a word in with the powers that be. We'd love to have Norris, Brown and Drury on loan

If we didn't have the crap xmas and had continued with results of previous weeks, we'd be maybe six points better off and todays signings would look like great additions. To me though, they are the very least we could have hoped for and every one of them will have to be the genuine article. No room at the inn for any more Hunt like signings. I'm hopeful but reserving judgement tii we see them in action and what way our dismal performance of late improve

Doc, just a small point - Stewart has already signed the 3 year deal, and it comes into effect in the summer.

Jock I know that mate, but the arrangement for Kebe is something I've never seen before? I expect us not to get promoted, so where does that leave kebe, after all he's on a 3-year deal with a prem club and would think decent wages? Are they going to sell him cheap if we dont go up?

They only paid £750K for him (which they thought was a real bargain) but seems to have picked up the same injury on each of his 3 starts for them.
Palace fans also seem to think Jerome Thomas is much better (but just as injury prone), but Reading fans loved him 2 seasons ago and were gutted when he left, so get him fit (and keep him fit) and he might be a goodun <ok>

Looks like Sean Dyche has beaten us to Barnes, as he's at Turf Moor having a medical

Agree two better quality signings than we are used to, beats bottom of the barrel who nobody else wants and it also makes a pleasant change that we are not talking about a better player actually leaving.

However two points - They are not 'star' Premiership players as suggested by the OS and surely this is just normal activity for a club of our size?

I am quietly happy with them, hopefully they will make a difference but they are not signings I am going to wet myself about.

Reckon we're going to lose Barnes myself apparently he's having his medical at Burnley and I can't see him choosing us over them unless he wants guaranteed first team football (not just as cover to Ings and Vokes).

That was the point I am making, we have suffered for years and now normality seems exciting
